Catalytic hydrogenation of CO into formic acid/formate is an attractive conversion in the utilization of CO. Although various catalysts with high catalytic efficiency are reported, a very few studies have been carried out to correlate/understand the efficacy and stability of the hydrogenation catalysts, which could be helpful to direct the future design strategy of corresponding catalysts. Herein, a half-sandwich iridium complex containing bibenzimidazole as a proton responsive N-donor ligand, [Cp*Ir(BiBzImH)Cl]Cl, has been synthesized and fully characterized.

Background: The association between gastric cancer and colorectal cancer has been conflicting.
Study: A total of 543 patients (males, 362; females, 181) with gastric cancer were matched with 2 persons from the population without a diagnosis of gastric cancer as confirmed by endoscopy according to age (+/-2 y), sex, date of colonoscopy examination (+/-2 wk), and endoscopist.
Background: Various training programs in colonoscopy recommend that trainees should perform at least 100 to 200 procedures to be considered technically competent at diagnostic colonoscopy.
Objective: Our purpose was to determine the adequate level of training for technical competence in screening and diagnostic colonoscopy.
Design: A prospective multicenter trial.
Background/aims: Susceptibility to organ damage induced by alcohol may be related to inherited variations (polymorphisms) in alcohol-metabolizing enzymes, or polymorphisms affecting cytokines. The aim of this study was to compare the genotype and allelic frequencies of ADH2, ADH3, ALDH2, cytochrome P450-2E1, IL-1, IL-6, IL-8 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha in patients with alcoholic pancreatitis and alcoholic liver cirrhosis with those of controls.
Methods: We determined the polymorphism of genes of the above-mentioned alcohol-metabolizing enzymes and cytokines in 29 alcoholic pancreatitis patients (AP), 22 alcoholic liver cirrhosis patients (LC) and 100 healthy blood donors (control).

GIST is a rare neoplasm, the majority of GISTs are located in the stomach and small intestine. Most GISTs are diagnosed histopathologically after resection because of submucosal location. A 37-year-old female patient presented with a 2-weeks history of generalized weakness, nausea accompanied by intermittent passage of black, tarry stools.

When the tumor is solitary or even multiple but located in one lobe, the treatment of choice is an operation. We report a case of huge leiomyosarcoma in a 58-year old female patient treated by surgical resection.
