: Lung ultrasound (LUS) is a tool of growing interest in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) oligo- symptomatic ILD to avoid. : We aimed to evaluate (i) the prevalence of pleural (PLUS) and parenchymal (PAUS) abnormalities in LUS in the RA population and their possible correlation to biomarkers; (ii) the predictivity of gender, smoking habits, previous infections (past COVID-19 tuberculosis), and treatments; (iii) the differences in LUS between sexes. : We collected the data of 155 (15 early and 140 late) RA patients with mild respiratory symptoms, evaluating PLUS and PAUS, in fourteen lung areas and also summing the scores (LUS-T).

Among sarcomas, MDM2 amplification is usually a molecular hallmark of well-differentiated liposarcoma and dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS) and occasionally a secondary genetic anomaly in other sarcomas. Histological evaluation and FISH analysis showing MDM2 amplification led to the diagnosis of DDLPS for a tumor located on the left arm of a 71-year-old patient. The patient was treated by adjuvant radiotherapy (RT) but the tumor recurred soon after.

Article Synopsis
  • - Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare and aggressive skin cancer, and current treatment for advanced cases often relies on immune-checkpoint inhibitors; however, their effectiveness can be limited.
  • - A study aimed to investigate the frequency of BRCA1/2 mutations in MCC, finding only one pathogenic BRCA2 variant among 30 samples, leading to a confirmed low rate of such mutations (around 3%) in MCC cases overall.
  • - Although BRCA1/2 mutations are rare in MCC, they could present a potential target for treatment with poly-(ADP-Ribose)-polymerase inhibitors, but this requires further validation through clinical trials.

The accurate diagnosis of Xp11-translocation renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in adults is challenging. TFE3 (located on chromosome X) fuses with a partner gene generally located on another chromosome. In rare cases TFE3 may fuse with a neighboring gene: RBM10.

We aimed to evaluate the therapeutic potential of the pan-FGFR inhibitor erdafitinib to treat dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS). FGFR expression and their prognostic value were assessed in a series of 694 samples of well-differentiated/dedifferentiated liposarcoma (WDLPS/DDLPS). The effect of erdafitinib-alone or in combination with other antagonists-on tumorigenicity was evaluated in vitro and in vivo.

Chromosomal losses resulting in a marked hypodiploidy are a specificity of chromophobe renal cell carcinoma (ChRCC), the third most frequent type of kidney cancer. Its detection is useful in challenging cases. However some ChRCC, especially the eosinophilic variant, do not exhibit hypodiploidy and deserve to be better explored.

The detection of specific alterations by genetic analyses has been included in the diagnostic criterions of the World Health Organization's classification of soft tissues tumors since 2013. The presence of a SS18 rearrangement is pathognomonic of synovial sarcoma (SS). MDM2 amplification is strongly correlated to well-differentiated or dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS) in the context of sarcoma.

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is underlined by recurrent collagen type I alpha 1 chain-platelet-derived growth factor B chain (COL1A1-PDGFB) fusions but ~ 4% of typical dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans remain negative for this translocation in routine molecular screening. We investigated a series of 21 cases not associated with the pathognomonic COL1A1-PDGFB fusion on routine fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) testing. All cases displayed morphological and clinical features consistent with the diagnosis of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans.

Background: Advances in molecular genetics of sarcoma have enabled the identification of type-specific aberrations. We aimed to assess the clinical effect of systematic implementation of molecular assays to improve sarcoma misdiagnosis.

Methods: In this multicentre, observational study, we recruited patients from 32 centres of the French Sarcoma Group/Reference Network in Pathology of Sarcomas.
