CAR-T therapies are a form of innovative and personalised immunotherapy in the field of onco-haematology. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a very aggressive form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) for which CAR-T therapies are approved as 3rd-line and more recently (from 11/11/2023), as 2nd-line for patients who relapse within 12 months after 1st-line chemo-immunotherapy. This study was conducted to estimate the eligible DLBCL population for CAR-T therapies in 2024 in Lazio region.

The study included 2,795 patients who died from Cns tumors between 2015 and 2019. In the last 30 days of life, compared to the solid tumor cohort, Cns patients had less access to emergency services and hospitalizations.

Objective: The diagnosis of malignant mesothelioma (MM) can be devastating for both patients and caregivers, who may experience intense suffering from a physical, psychological, and interpersonal perspective. Despite the extensive literature on caregiver distress, there is a lack of validated measures to provide evidence of psychological distress of caregivers of MM patients. Therefore, in a previous study we developed the Mesothelioma Psychological Distress Tool-Caregivers (MPDT-C) to evaluate the specific profile of psychological distress in this population.

Efforts have been made to address this issue since the mid-2010s, but more information is needed about how TC incidence has changed. We aim to examine the trend in TC incidence in the Lazio Region (central Italy) and assess the impact of the 2014 Italian Consensus for the Classification and Reporting of Thyroid Cytology (ICCRTC) to identify potential changes in TC diagnosis.

There is a need for a similar systematic approach for HRA for morbidity outcomes, which have often been omitted from HRA of air pollution, thus underestimating the full air pollution burden. We aimed to compile from the existing systematic reviews and meta-analyses CRFs for the incidence of several diseases that could be applied in HRA.

Objective: Psychological suffering in patients with Malignant Mesothelioma (MM) is different from the one experienced by patients with other cancers due to its occupational or environmental etiology and its peculiar symptomatology and prognosis (i.e., poor prognosis, reduced effectiveness of the therapies, poor quality of residual life, and advanced age at the time of diagnosis).

Methods: We applied gender-based approaches to descriptive analyses, incidence, and patterns of exposures using the Italian National Sinonasal Cancer Registry (ReNaTuNS: Registro Nazionale Tumori Naso-Sinusali).
Results: The study included 2851 SNC patients.
Background: Lung cancer is one of the most lethal cancers worldwide and patient clinical outcomes seem influenced by their socioeconomic position (SEP). Since little has been investigated on this topic in the Italian context, our aim was to investigate the role of SEP in the care pathway of lung cancer patients in terms of diagnosis, treatment and mortality.
Methods: This observational retrospective cohort study included patients discharged in the Lazio Region with a lung cancer diagnosis between 2014 and 2017.
The study describes the 466 cases of malignant mesotheliomas (MM) collected by the National Mesothelioma Register (ReNaM) in Italy in the period 1993-2018 relating to subjects with exclusive asbestos exposure in merchant or military navy. The cases among maritime workers represent 1.8% of the total cases with defined exposure registred in the ReNaM, of which 212 cases (45.

The median age at diagnosis is generally high, according to the long latency of the disease. The purposes of this study are to analyse the incidence of mesothelioma in young people and to evaluate the modalities of asbestos exposure.

In Italy, a National Mesothelioma Registry has been implemented more than 20 years ago. Using cases selected from this registry and exploiting existing control data sets, we estimated relative risks for pleural mesothelioma (PM) among construction workers.

The Italian National Mesothelioma Registry, from 1993 to 2018, reported exposure exclusively in the construction sector in 2310 cases. We describe the characteristics of these cases according to job title.

Primary effusion lymphoma (PEL) is a large B-cell lymphoma growing within body-cavities caused by the Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV)/human herpesvirus-8 (KSHV/HHV-8). It is mainly reported in HIV-infected patients. The uncommon occurrence in the elderly supports a form paralleling classic Kaposi sarcoma (KS), i.

Design: descriptive analysis of total and cause-specific mortality in 2020 in Rome and comparison with a reference period (2015-2018 for total mortality and 2018 for cause-specific mortality); descriptive analysis of cause-specific mortality in the cohort of SARS-CoV-2 infected subjects.
Setting And Participants: 27,471 deaths registered in the Lazio mortality-cause Registry, relating to people residing and died in the municipality of Rome in 2020, 2,374 of which died from COVID-19.
Objectives: to investigate, for the first time, the incidence of cancer (years 2009-2015) and geographical distribution among children and adolescents with cancer diagnosis in Lazio Region (Central Italy).
Design: to compute incidence rates of childhood cancers from Lazio Region Childhood Cancer Registry (LRCCR) database, established in 2015, and to compare results with national figures for 2012 provided by the Italian cancer registries network (AIRTUM).
Setting And Participants: all new cases of malignant tumours (behaviour: /3 of ICD-O-3 classification) and all central nervous system tumours were selected, regardless of behaviour (/0, /1, /3) in children and adolescents (0-19 years) registered in the LRCCR data base.
There is irrefutable evidence that germline BRCA1-associated protein 1 gene (BAP1) mutations contribute to malignant mesothelioma (MM) susceptibility. However, BAP1 mutations are not found in all cases with evidence of familial MM or in other high-risk cancer families affected by various cancers, including MM. The goal of this study was to use whole genome sequencing (WGS) to determine the frequency and types of germline gene variants occurring in 12 MM patients who were selected from a series of 141 asbestos-exposed MM patients with a family history of cancer but without a germline BAP1 mutation.

Purpose: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is an aggressive lymphoma often refractory to currently available treatments (immuno-chemotherapy/autologous-stem-cell-transplantation-ASCT). Recently, new cell therapies have been approved for patients failing two conventional treatments, CAR-T (Chimeric-Antigen-Receptor-T-cell), committing payers in planning and implementing their use. We aim to define, using Real World Data (RWD), a reproducible procedure that allows identification of CAR-T target population for DLBCL.

We report data on BAP1 analysis in four families with multiple mesothelioma cases to investigate possible BAP1 alterations associated with an inherited cancer syndrome. We also recorded family history of cancer and assessed asbestos exposure.

Practical guidelines for pathologists are provided in publications and textbooks but it is unclear how these recommendations are applied in routine practice. We investigated the characteristics of pathology reports, and the extent to which they meet guideline standards.

DNA sequence analysis revealed no evidence for an inherited mutation of BAP1. Sequence analysis of other potentially relevant genes, including TP53, CDKN2A, and BARD1, also revealed no mutation.
