Cost-effectiveness and short-term clinical outcomes of argon plasma coagulation compared with endoscopic submucosal dissection in the treatment of gastric low-grade dysplasia.

Endoscopic treatment such as endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) or argon plasma coagulation (APC) is widely performed to treat gastric low-grade dysplasia (LGD). We aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of APC versus ESD for gastric LGD in terms of cost-effectiveness. This was a retrospective review of patients with gastric LGD who were treated with endoscopic intervention (APC or ESD) between March 2011 to December 2015.

Abdominal fat distribution measured using computed tomography is associated with an increased risk of colorectal adenoma in men.

A few studies have shown inconsistent results regarding the association between the visceral fat proportion and colorectal adenomas. We aimed to investigate the association between abdominal fat distribution measured by computed tomography (CT) and colon adenoma.A total of 336 participants underwent physical examination, blood tests, colonoscopy, and abdominal computed tomography at Chung-Ang University Hospital.

Seasonal factors influencing exercise-induced asthma.

Purpose: Exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) in patients with asthma occurs more frequently in winter than in summer. The concentration of house dust mite (HDM) allergens in beds also shows seasonal variation. This study examined the relationship between seasonal differences in the prevalence of EIB and sensitization to HDMs in patients with asthma.

Very Late Stent Thrombosis in a Drug-Eluting Stent due to Interruption of Anti-Platelet Agents in Patients With Acute Myocardial Infarction and Thrombocytosis.

Stent thrombosis is a fatal complication in patients who have undergone percutaneous coronary intervention, and discontinuation of anti-platelet agent is a major risk factor of stent thrombosis. We report a rare case of very late stent thrombosis (VLST) following discontinuation of anti-platelet agents in a patient who experienced acute myocardial infarction and essential thrombocytosis. She had undergone implantation of a drug eluting stent (DES) and a bare metal stent (BMS) two and half years prior to her presentation.
