Arterial hypertension as a complication of the perioperative period is encountered in 6-20% of patients undergoing general surgical interventions. This article provides a detailed discussion of epidemiology and pathophysiological aspects of arterial hypertension in surgical patients, as well as physiology and the classification of the receptor complex participating in regulation of arterial pressure. Special attention is paid to clinical trials dedicated to using Urapidil (Ebrantil®) which belongs to the group of α1-adrenoblockers.

Mentioned are difficulties of carrying out an operational intervention requiring the use of certain surgical techniques. The tumour was removed as a single block with the involvement into the process of the major vessels of the neck and nervous formations.

This concept is based on the module-axial type of education based on two basic principles: from complex to simple (from general to particular) (the so-called axis) and the modular organization of an educational process. Education implies the obligatory teaching of the axis (the structuring of the already available knowledge) and specialized programs (modules) are incorporated into a course of subjects if there is a practical need, which permits a student to achieve the necessary level of knowledge and skills.

However, a diversity of complications associated with the insertion and use of a catheter has made for the design of CO-measuring devices in a mini- or noninvasive mode. This prospective controlled study has been conducted to compare various CO determination techniques by the shape of the arterial curve (ART), as shown by the use of a transesophageal Doppler ultrasonic sensor (TEDUS) determining the blood flow velocity in the descending thoracic aorta by the Fick's backward equation with partial CO2 recirculation, by measuring thoracic bioimpedance (Tbio) by bolus thermodilution as the reference method (CO BT).

The study comprised a total of 30 patients presenting with atherosclerotic lesions of the arteries of the carotid bed and aorto-femoral segment, who were subjected to reconstructive vascular operations. The aim of the present study was to look into a possibility of preventing cardiac complications in patients after endured reconstructive vascular surgery.

The development of myocardial or brain ischemia is a major hazard to patients operated on the brachiocephalic arteries. The purpose of the present study was to reveal a risk factor or its group of factors whose correction would improve the prediction of surgical interventions as a whole. A preliminary study included 105 patients (among them there were males (80%), whose mean age was 60 +/- 0.

As a rule, in view of the high incidence of coexistent cardial pathology and arterial hypertension in patients of this age group with AAA, the risk of the forthcoming operation may be fairly high. The aim of the work was to study the effect of the initial cardial status of the patients and lesion of the target organs in arterial hypertension on the results of surgical treatment of patients over 70 years with abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Under analysis is an experience with treatment of 178 patients with thoracoabdominal wounds. The authors have developed a rational curative methods and original thoracoscopic techniques, which allowed to considerably reduce the amount of thoracotomies. Thoracoscopy was performed in 157 (88%) of 178 patients.

The article deals with the results of examination and nonoperative treatment of 120 children with vesicoureteral reflux (VUR). Their ages ranged from 3 to 13 years. The authors used a complex of methods for the examination of the functional condition of the kidneys, upper urinary tract (excretory urography, renoscintigraphy, electroureterography, clearance tests), lower urinary tract (cystography, cystoscopy, cystotonometry, urethroprofilometry, electromyography of the detrusor and its obturator apparatus), bacterio- and immunological studies (determination of the microbial number, bacteria covered with antibodies, immunoglobulins G, A, and M).

The initial hemorheologic values and their dynamics in various periods after reconstructive operations were studied in 70 patients with atherosclerosis of the abdominal aorta. The rheologic blood properties proved to be considerably changed in atherosclerotic affection of the abdominal aorta. The causes of the hemorheologic disorders in this pathological condition are marked changes in regional hemodynamics and the character of the blood flow and significant disorders of protein, lipid and carbohydrate metabolism.
