Background And Aim: Qualitative diagnosis of ulcerative colitis-associated neoplasia (UCAN) is crucial for surveillance colonoscopy in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). Although the utility of magnifying endoscopy with narrow-band imaging (ME-NBI) in sporadic neoplasia diagnosis has been reported, its efficacy in UCAN remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the usefulness of ME-NBI for qualitative diagnosis of UCAN.

C-reactive protein (CRP) and D-dimer are associated with COVID-19 severity and progression. However, no one has evaluated the use of serial CRP and D-dimer ratios to predict HFNC success.

Morphological, biochemical, physiological, and chemotaxonomic analyses as well as sequence analysis of the concatenated internal transcribed spacer region and D1/D2 domains of the large subunit of the rRNA gene confirmed that strains JCM 35526 and 261-2C, were distinct from all currently known species. The holotype and isotype strains of the new species, which is named , are JCM 35526 and MUCL 58310, respectively.

Nintedanib treatment is recommended to slow IPF disease progression. The aim of this post-marketing surveillance (PMS) study was to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of nintedanib over 24 months in patients with IPF in a real-world setting in Japan.

Phosphine sulfides containing multiple hydroxymethyl groups could undergo sequential transformations combining P-N and P-O as well as P-C bond formations, providing a novel protocol for the synthesis of a variety of organophosphorus(V) compounds with P-N and P-O bonds.

The antagonistic action of suvorexant on orexin receptors is associated with an increase in rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, which can potentially lead to nightmares depending on the patient's condition. However, the precise risk factors for nightmares among patients taking ORAs, such as suvorexant, have yet to be identified.

During limb regeneration of adult newts, fascinating cellular and molecular processes are revealed, including scarless healing, de-differentiation of mature cells, and regeneration of limbs and digits. Sonic hedgehog (Shh), crucial for vertebrate limb development, is regulated by the zone of polarizing activity regulatory sequence (ZRS) in the limb bud zone of polarizing activity (ZPA).

Aims/objectives: This study examines cervical abscess development, its relationship with postoperative swallowing function, and hospital stay duration.
Material And Methods: A retrospective case series of 55 DNI patients was divided by hospital stay (<30 days: Group A, ≥30 days: Group B) and swallowing recovery (<6 days: Group C, ≥6 days: Group D).

Background: An esophageal diverticulum is a relatively rare disease, with reports of treatment for esophageal cancer in the diverticulum even rarer.
Case Presentation: The case involved a 72-year-old male with a chief complaint of dysphagia. He was diagnosed with an esophageal diverticulum (Zenker's diverticulum) measuring 10 cm in diameter.

Objectives: Balloon dilation of the Eustachian tube (BDET) is widely recognized as a minimally invasive treatment for obstructive Eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD). We employed a Delphi consensus methodology to develop recommendations for the clinical management of BDET in cases of obstructive ETD.
Methods: A Delphi panel consisting of 26 expert physicians specializing in otology participated in two rounds of anonymous, iterative questionnaires.
SABATH proteins methylate the carboxyl groups or nitrogen atoms of small plant molecules and play important roles in many developmental processes and plant defense responses. Previous studies have shown that indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) carboxyl methyltransferase (IAMT), a member of the SABATH methyltransferase family, converts IAA into its methyl ester (Me-IAA). We used RNA-seq analysis to identify a putative gene, , in the ancient angiosperm .

We present a case of a 68-year-old man who underwent surgical treatment for a mycotic aneurysm of the TPT. This report highlights the importance of en bloc surgical resection of the mycotic aneurysm and an appropriate approach with an air tourniquet for the prevention of injuries to the adherent tissues.

Red river hogs (RRHs) (), a wild species of living in Africa with a major distribution in the Guinean and Congolian forests, are natural reservoirs of African swine fever virus (ASFV) and typically are asymptomatic. Since blood and tissue macrophages of suid animals are target cell lineages of ASFV, RRH-derived macrophages are expected to play an important role in suppressing disease development in infected individuals. In the present study, we successfully isolated RRH-derived blood macrophages using co-culture techniques of RRH blood cells with porcine kidney-derived feeder cells and immortalized them by transferring SV40 large T antigen and porcine telomerase reverse transcriptase genes.

Being a potentiometric sensor, no faradaic current flows through its sensing surface, and no electrochemical reaction takes place in the course of LAPS measurement. In this study, a four-electrode system is proposed, in which a LAPS is combined with the conventional three-electrode electrochemical system.

Purpose: In this study, we aimed to develop an application that computes dose values resembling diagnostic reference level (DRL) conditions when disparity prevents direct dose comparisons between the national diagnostic reference levels in Japan 2020 (Japan DRLs_2020) and facility-specific computed tomography (CT) protocols.
Methods: We developed an application using the R programming language and RStudio software that computes dose values and median values based on Japan DRLs_2020 imaging conditions following extraction of necessary information for dose calculations from the Radiation Dose Structured Report (RDSR) and Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) tags. To ensure a user-friendly experience, we used the Shiny package to develop a graphical user interface that enables the application to operate seamlessly in web browsers.
