Mucosal leishmaniasis of the lips and cheeks: a first concomitant presentation of visceral and mucosal leishmaniasis in a patient living with HIV/AIDS in Monastir, Tunisia.

Background: Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) is the most severe and fatal disease if left untreated. In people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA), VL is considered an emerging opportunistic infection. The aim of this manuscript was to report a first case in Tunisia of a concomitant presentation of visceral and oral leishmaniasis in a patient LHA.

Diffuse Kaposi sarcoma with oral involvement in a person diagnosed with human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immune deficiency syndrome: A case report.

Kaposi's sarcoma is a well-known multifocal vascular tumor initially described by pathologist Moritz Kaposi. This report presents the case of a 38-year-old bisexual male who consulted the infectious diseases department with non-itchy maculopapular and purpuric lesions on the skin with the involvement of the oral mucosa, suggesting a diagnosis of Kaposi's sarcoma. Biological and radiological investigations were performed.

Salivary biochemical parameters in people living with HIV on ART and dental caries: a cross-sectional study in Monastir, Tunisia.

Background: Studies regarding salivary biochemical parameters and dental caries in adult people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) are scanty.

Aim: To investigate salivary biochemical parameters and dental caries in adult PLWHA who are on antiretroviral therapy (ART) and compare the findings with people negative for HIV infection.

Methods: The study included 50 HIV positive individuals as a test group (TG) and 50 HIV negative individuals as a control group (CG).

Cerebral nocardiosis with osteomyelitis of skull vault complicating a primary neck lesion in an immunocompetent patient: a case report.

Nocardia infection is an uncommon and rare condition in immunocompetent patient. A case of cutaneous nocardiosis complicated with osteomyelitis of the vault scalp in a 64-year-old man, with no remarkable past medical history, is reported. Treatment with trimethoprime-sulfamethoxazole than doxycycline for 12 months led to complete resolution and no evidence of recurrence was noted.

The role of quantitative HBsAg in the natural history of e antigen-negative chronic hepatitis B: A Tunisian prospective study.

Background/aims: During the natural course of Chronic Hepatitis B (CHB) infection, differentiation between inactive carrier (IC) and HBeAg negative CHB is a subject of ongoing debate. We studied the role of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) level as a means of differentiating between CHB and IC in a group of untreated chronic HBeAg-negative HBV-infected patients.

Study: A total of 115 HBeAg negative carriers were enrolled and followed up for>12 months; 78 as inactive carriers (IC), and 37 as active carriers (AC).
