Monoclonal antibodies were prepared against human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). One monoclonal antibody recognized a conformational determinant expressed only on native HCG molecule and another monoclonal antibody had the specificity for the epitopes located on the beta-subunit of HCG. Monoclonal antibodies reacting with different antigenic determinants on the HCG molecule were used to develop a simplified 2-site sandwich radioimmunoassay in which one monoclonal antibody was immobilized and another labeled with 125iodine.

In six, both IADSA and conventional screen-film arteriography were performed for comparison. Painless peripheral arteriography was achieved by IADSA with isotonic contrast material.

Nine patients with renal tumors were studied by intraarterial digital subtraction arteriography (IADSA). Embolization was performed in six patients. IADSA was evaluated on the following practical points: vascular mapping, renal vein visualization, and embolization.

The patient was a 42-year-old woman without liver cirrhosis but who had three multicystic mass lesions in the liver. Transcatheter arterial embolization was very effective and a survival time of more than 19 months was obtained.

The diagnosis of cerebrovascular dementia was done according to the Hachinski's ischemic score and X-ray CT findings, and the severity of dementia was classified according to the DR scale originated by Hasegawa. PET scanning started at 10 minutes and ended at 50 minutes after administration of C-11-glucose, and bloods were sampled at every 5-10 minutes during the PET scanning .

CT and venography were useful in the diagnosis. Differential diagnosis of cervical masses which enlarge with Valsalva maneuver are also discussed with a review of the literature.

We report on a 53-year-old male patient with SHC describing the radiological findings and clinical course after a transcatheter arterial embolization. To our knowledge, this was only the second reported case of SHC in Japan.

In most cases IADSPs provided images as good as conventional arterial portography through the superior mesenteric artery and they produced important information as to whether patients should be treated by transcatheter arterial embolization, surgical resection or chemotherapy. IADSP helps to reduce the examination time, the number of films and contrast material used, as well as the pain suffered by patients.

All main liver tumors were demonstrated as high intensity areas of varying degree in the spin echo image with a TR of 1,600 msec and a TE of 70 msec.

Nonenhanced high-density areas were seen in the tumors within 3 days in 17/25 cases (though they soon disappeared) and low-density areas within 2 weeks in 62/65. Gas bubbles were seen in these areas within 2 weeks in 60% of embolizations.

The high risk of development of malignant tumors is well-known. A case of Maffucci syndrome in a 68-year-old man who suffered from multiple malignant degeneration and who was given a bone scintigraphic examination is reported with radiological and pathological findings.

Eight Japanese patients with mesenteric varices were diagnosed by angiography. All patients suffered from portal hypertension and had a history of previous abdominal surgery or peritonitis. The mesenteric varices of these patients were thought to be related to adhesion.

During the past 5 years and 7 months we experienced 22 such cases. In this report we tried to review the characteristic CT findings for the differential diagnosis of these lesions.

The washout value was measured with a pixel by pixel calculation between counts of the initial image and images that were delayed for three hours after the initial image. We compared the color displayed functional washout images with the original image in the detection of ischemic segments which had been confirmed by coronary angiography.

The saturation recovery images are not able to separate heart muscle from the blood pool, but in inversion recovery images, heart muscle can be differentiated from the ventricles. The region of myocardial infarction is revealed as wall thinning and/or wall motion abnormality.
