Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore changes in mitral valve structure following Percutaneous Trans-Venous Mitral Commissurotomy (PTMC) in patients with mitral stenosis treated at a hospital in Pakistan over a decade.
  • The research analyzed data from 229 patients, noting demographics, Wilkin echocardiographic scores, and outcomes like mitral valve area and left atrium diameter before and after the procedure.
  • Findings indicated PTMC led to significant improvements in mitral valve area and left atrium size, highlighting its effectiveness in enhancing valve morphology despite no immediate change in some heart function metrics.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore how timing of thrombolytic therapy, patient risk factors, and the location of heart infarctions affect ST segment resolution in patients with STEMI (ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction) following treatment.
  • Conducted over five months at Hayatabad Medical Complex, the research included 83 patients, with a focus on the timing of thrombolysis and its impact on ECG results after administering streptokinase.
  • Results showed that patients who received thrombolytic therapy within 12 hours had significantly better outcomes (72.88% complete resolution) compared to those treated later, highlighting the importance of timely intervention in STEMI cases.
