Physician experience improves ability to predict 6-month functional outcome of severe traumatic brain injury.

Background: The functional prognosis of severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) during the acute phase is often poor and uncertain. We aimed to quantify the elements that shade the degree of uncertainty in prognostic determination of TBI and to better understand the role of clinical experience in prognostic quality.

Background: Tracheostomy has been proposed as an option to help organize the healthcare system to face the unprecedented number of patients hospitalized for a COVID-19-related acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in intensive care units (ICU). It is, however, considered a particularly high-risk procedure for contamination. This paper aims to provide our experience in performing tracheostomies on COVID-19 critically ill patients during the pandemic and its long-term local complications.

Purpose: The aim of this work is to study a cohort of patients of ISS < 15 admitted to a TC, and to determine the number of patients that ultimately benefited from the skills and resources specific of a level 1 trauma center.

Methods: Retrospective study from a prospective cohort of patients admitted to TC (Beaujon Hospital, APHP) for suspected severe trauma from January 2011 to December 2017. The main outcome criterion was the use of surgery or interventional radiology within the first 24 h after admission of patients with ISS < 15.

Real-world use of idarucizumab for dabigatran reversal in three cases of serious bleeding.

Bleeding is a rare complication of direct oral anticoagulant potentially associated with high mortality rates. Biological monitoring is necessary for more than 24 h after idarucizumab antidote therapy in case of bleeding with dabigatran therapy.
