Purpose: We investigated how the microscopic quality of endotracheal aspirates (ETA) impacts the performance of the Filmarray® pneumonia plus panel (FA-PP) in patients undergoing mechanical ventilation (IMV) with suspicion of lower respiratory tract bacterial infection (LRTBI).

Methods: The quality of ETA was categorized according to the number of leukocytes and buccal squamous epithelial (BSE)/field (100x magnification). The effect of COVID-19 booster vaccination on SARS-CoV-2 T-cell mediated immune responses in elderly nursing home residents has not been explored in depth. Thirty-nine elderly nursing home residents (median age, 91 years) were included, all fully vaccinated with mRNA vaccines. The Platelia Aspergillus Antigen immunoassay is the "gold standard" for Aspergillus galactomannan (GLM) measurement in sera and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) for the diagnosis of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA). We evaluated the performance of the Aspergillus GLM antigen Virclia Monotest compared to the Platelia assay. The effect of a third vaccine dose (3D) of homologous mRNA vaccine on blood levels of SARS-CoV-2-receptor binding domain (RBD)-total antibodies was assessed in 40 hemodialysis patients (HD) and 21 kidney transplant recipients (KTR) at a median of 46 days after 3D.
