Acute pancreatitis can be classified into 2 groups according to its morphologic features: interstitial edematous pancreatitis and necrotizing acute pancreatitis. The prognosis of this group of diseases and its complications varies significantly and contrast-enhanced computed tomography is the imaging study of choice for the diagnosis and detection of complications.
