Polymorphic Analysis of Leptin Promoter in Obese/diabetic Subjects in Kashmiri Population.

Background: The role of common variants in leptin promoter has already been established to play a major role in obesity and diabetes in humans. The study was accordingly focused on leptin promoter variants and their potential association with diabetes and obesity in ethnic population from Kashmir, India.

Methods: Allele frequencies of 620 Kashmiri subjects with diabetes (200), obese subjects (200), and ethnically matched healthy controls (200) were tested for the Hardy-Weinberg disequilibrium.

Is hypothyroidism and hypogonadism an issue after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage-an institutional experience?

Background: The incidence of hypopituitarism in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage ranges from 0% to 45%. Also the screening for hypopituitarism in survivors of aneurysmal SAH is not a routine. This has led to a controversy in the management of such patients.

Adrenal insufficiency due to primary bilateral adrenal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

A case of primary adrenal insufficiency, secondary to primary bilateral adrenal lymphoma is reported. A 50-year-old woman presented with features of primary adrenal insufficiency (darkening of skin, asthenia, anorexia, constipation) for at least 8 months. Clinical examination was unremarkable except for low body mass index and generalized skin and buccal mucosal pigmentation.
