Objective: Prenatal detection of Trisomy 16 mosaicism (MosT16) in a Chorionic Villus Sample (CVS) results may cause significant anxiety for expectant parents due to the risk of fetal malformation and fetal growth restriction (FGR). The aim of this study was to investigate the experiences and decision-making of women receiving a MosT16 results during pregnancy.
Methods: In-depth, semi-structured interviews with eight Danish women who received a MosT16 CVS results.
Unlabelled: Subsequent fracture rates and associated mortality were compared before and after the introduction of fracture liaison service (FLS). In 100,198 women and men, FLS was associated with 13% and 10% lower risk of subsequent fragility fractures and 18% and 15% lower mortality. The study suggests that FLS may prevent fractures.

Background: Mosaicism, characterized by the presence of two or more chromosomally distinct cell lines, is detected in 2% to 4% of chorionic villus samples (CVSs). In these cases, the aberration may be confined to the placenta or additionally present in the fetus. Fetal involvement may manifest as fetal malformations, while confined placental mosaicism (CPM) poses risks such as preterm birth and low birth weight.

Method: We assessed paired cfNIPT and chorionic villus sample (CVS) results from the same pregnancies in a case series of mosaicism detected in Central and North Denmark Regions from April 2014 to September 2018. Indications for the clinically obtained CVS, pregnancy markers and outcome were retrieved from The Danish Fetal Medicine Database.
Significance Statement: Proteinuria predicts accelerated decline in kidney function in CKD. The pathologic mechanisms are not well known, but aberrantly filtered proteins with enzymatic activity might be involved. The urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA)-plasminogen cascade activates complement and generates C3a and C5a in vitro / ex vivo in urine from healthy persons when exogenous, inactive, plasminogen, and complement factors are added.

Furthermore, the NIPT result did not demonstrate the same fetal chromosomal aberration as the chorion villus sample. A literature search for similar cases was performed identifying 43 unique cases, where abnormal NIPT results were related to maternal malignancy.

Method: We collected placentas from 15 consecutive cases of mosaicism detected in CVSs and obtained five standardized samples on each placenta after delivery. All pre- and postnatal placental samples were uncultured and analyzed by high-resolution chromosomal microarray.
Objective: To evaluate the risk of fetal involvement when trisomy 8 mosaicism (T8M) is detected in chorionic villus samples (CVS).
Methods: A retrospective descriptive study of registered pregnancies in Denmark with T8M in CVS identified through a database search and a review of published cases of T8M found through a systematic literature search and inclusion of cross references. Pregnancies with T8M in CVS and no additional numerical chromosomal aberrations were included.

Background And Objectives: The aim was to evaluate the prognostic biomarker potential of the soluble urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) in plasma samples collected pre- and postoperatively from patients resected for colorectal cancer (CRC).
Methods: Patients with CRC were recruited prospectively at six centers from 2006 to 2008. Preoperative plasma samples were available from 494 patients and from 328 of these patients at 6 months postoperatively.
Aim: Activation of sodium reabsorption by urinary proteases has been implicated in sodium retention associated with nephrotic syndrome. The study was designed to test the hypothesis that nephrotic proteinuria in mice after conditional deletion of podocin leads to urokinase-dependent, amiloride-sensitive plasmin-mediated sodium and water retention.
Methods: Ten days after podocin knockout, urine and faeces were collected for 10 days in metabolic cages and analysed for electrolytes, plasminogen, protease activity and ability to activate γENaC by patch clamp and western blot.
The location of osteoporotic fragility fractures adds crucial information to post-fracture risk estimation. The catalytic activity of trypsin-like serine proteases is in many cases regulated by conformational changes initiated by binding of physiological modulators to exosites located distantly from the active site. A trypsin-like serine protease of particular interest is urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA), which is involved in extracellular tissue remodeling processes. Herein, we used hydrogen/deuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDXMS) to study regulation of activity in the catalytic domain of the murine version of uPA (muPA) by two muPA specific monoclonal antibodies.
