Unlabelled: Graves' disease (GD), an autoimmune thyroid disease, is one of the main autoimmune diseases in the general population. It is known that the pathophysiology of this disease may be related to immunological mechanisms dysregulation. These mechanisms can be influenced by GD therapies, such as iodide or antithyroid drugs (ATD).

Avoiding unnecessary treatments and the risk of complications is essential, as well as understanding the mechanisms of tumor progression and the conditions that indicate a worse prognosis. Assessment of the tumor microenvironment can allow us understand how the immune system organizes itself to contain neoplastic progression.

Tumor antigens stimulate the expression of PD-1 in immune cells, which binds to PD-L1 of tumor cells, inducing immune escape from the tumor. MCL-1, an anti-apoptotic member of the BCL-2 family, is necessary for the survival of T and B lymphocytes and has a high oncogenic potential.

The clinicopathological findings disclosed a very aggressive tumor. All 3 patients had solitary tumor at the left side, metastasis and advanced stage at the time of diagnosis; were females with a median age of 40 years; had a history of uterine leiomyomas; and, at follow-up two patients are deceased and one patient alive.

Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and monocyte-lymphocyte ratio (MLR) with clinicopathological characteristics of patients with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC).
Methods: This retrospective study included 390 patients with DTC who had complete blood cell counts available at the time of surgery. NLR, PLR, and MLR were calculated, and the risk of cancer-related death, structural recurrence, and response to therapy were assessed using the eighth edition of the tumor-node-metastasis classification, American Thyroid Association (ATA) Risk Stratification System, and ATA Response to Therapy Reclassification, respectively.
Objective: Abnormalities involving the gene and its receptors are common in several types of cancer and often related to tumor progression. We investigated the role of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in the susceptibility to cancer, their impact on its features, as well as the role of mRNA expression of these genes in thyroid malignancy.
Methods: We genotyped , , and SNPs in 157 papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) patients and 200 healthy controls.
Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is usually treated with corticosteroids, given their anti-inflammatory effects. Unlike the nasal administration, the oral and ocular use of tretinoin, an immunoregulatory drug, is well established. Therefore, tretinoin was thought to act on nasal polyps, and possible adverse and/or therapeutic effects were investigated.

We aimed to evaluate the influence on biochemical recurrence following radical prostatectomy of patients with organ-confined tumor, Gleason score 7, and negative surgical margins. Total tumor extent, Gleason grade 4 total extent and the extent of each architectural subtype (fused glands, poorly defined glands, cribriform glands, and glomeruloid glands) were evaluated by a semiquantitative point-count method using different colors to identify each subtype.

A major change in prostate includes pathologically organ - confined disease to be considered pT2 and no longer subclassified by extent of involvement or laterality. The aim of this study was to validate this major change.

However, their role in thyroid tumors is still poorly understood. We examined ID expression and their correlation with diagnostic and prognostic features aiming to find a clinical application in differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) cases.

A cross sectional, observational study performed by evaluating histopathological samples of thyroidectomy products from GD patients using immunohistochemistry.

This is not a common disease in Western countries, and this report should increase our awareness for differential diagnosis of nasal masses. Early diagnosis is desired in order to increase the survival rates.

We have investigated these processes in polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma (PLGA), in an attempt to identify those that are relevant for this particular lesion. We analyzed 31 cases of PLGA using immunohistochemistry to antibodies against CD34 and CD105 to detect blood vessels; against D2-40 to detect lymphatic vessels; against Bax, Bcl-2, and survivin to explore cell apoptosis; and against Beclin and LCB3 to investigate autophagy and against p21 and p16 to assess senescence.
