The synthesis, structure, and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) properties of axially chiral boron difluoride complexes are described. A series of optically pure bis (boron difluoride) complexes were prepared in 5 steps from commercially available (S)- or (R)-BINOL as starting materials. The complexes were found to exhibit similar yellow photoluminescence in solution, regardless of the type of substituents on the nitrogen atoms.

Methods: Nine males and 1 female performed three trials entailing a dynamic two-legged knee extension exercise at a constant workload that elicited heart rates around 100 beats min. During the trials the participants performed either: (1) immersed their right hand into ice water maintained at 4 °C (cold pressor test; CPT); (2) performed maximal-duration apnea; and (3) performed a combination of CPT and apnea.
Objectives: To elucidate the outcomes of periviable infants receiving active care (AC) and explore perinatal factors associated with neurodevelopmental outcomes.
Methods: This is a single-center retrospective study on infants born at 22-25 weeks of gestation, all of whom received AC. A developmental quotient (DQ) ≥ 85 at corrected 18 months was judged as normal.

The blood flow index at the renal surface decreased significantly with arterial clamping, cardiac extirpation, and the progression of diabetic endothelial dysfunction. Renal blood flow measured in diabetic and nondiabetic rats also showed a significant correlation with the reactive hyperemic response of the thigh muscle.

The physiological effects on blood flow and oxygen utilization in active muscles during and after involuntary contraction triggered by electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) remain unclear, particularly compared with those elicited by voluntary (VOL) contractions. Therefore, we used diffuse correlation and near-infrared spectroscopy (DCS-NIRS) to compare changes in local muscle blood flow and oxygen consumption during and after these two types of muscle contractions in humans. Objective: Family-focused therapy (FFT) is associated with enhanced outcomes in youth with bipolar and depressive disorders, but has not been evaluated in conjunction with mobile health tools. In symptomatic adolescents whose parents had histories of mood disorders, we examined whether the effects of telehealth-based FFT were augmented by mobile health apps that emphasized mood tracking and family coping skills.
Method: Participants (aged 13-19 years) had active mood symptoms and a parent with major depressive or bipolar disorder.
Aim: We aimed to investigate the associations of endometriosis and adenomyosis with pregnancy complications by using a large-scale Japanese database.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 145 590 singleton pregnancies from the Japan Perinatal Registry Network Database. Pregnant women registered as having endometriosis or adenomyosis were designated as the case group (EA), whereas the control group (non-EA) was selected using propensity-score matching adjusted for variables such as age, parity, BMI, smoking history, and the use of assisted reproductive technology.
A uterine artery pseudoaneurysm (UAP) is a life-threatening complication during pregnancy and postpartum. Early diagnosis of exophytic UAP rupture is difficult due to the absence of vaginal bleeding. This study reports the case of a 31-year-old postpartum woman who presented with abdominal pain and fever seven days after vaginal delivery, without symptoms of maternal shock.

Numerous studies on COVID-19 have reported that, in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who have contracted severe COVID-19, glucose metabolism is exacerbated by multiple factors, such as severe inflammation, beta-cell dysfunction caused by the SARS-CoV-2 infection itself, corticosteroid therapy, vasopressor administration, and enteral or parenteral nutrition. Very high doses of insulin are often required in the acute phase of such patients; however, the factors that affect insulin requirements and to what extent remain unclear.
