2-Fluorobenzofurans underwent efficient nickel-catalyzed coupling with arylboronic acids through the activation of aromatic C-F bonds. This method allowed us to successfully synthesize a range of 2-arylbenzofurans with various substituents. The reaction, which proceeded under mild conditions, involved β-fluorine elimination from nickelacyclopropanes formed by the interaction of 2-fluorobenzofurans with zero-valent nickel species.

An AuCl catalyst enabled an α,β-selective [2 + 2] cycloaddition of 1,1-difluoroallenes, yielding ()-3-alkylidene-2,2-difluorooxetanes. Conversely, an AuCl(IPr)-AgSbF catalyst facilitated an α,γ-selective [3 + 2] cycloaddition, followed by dehydrofluorination to produce aromatized 2-fluorofurans.

Angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma (AFH) is a rare intermediate tumor that is often difficult to diagnose radiologically and pathologically. Herein, we report a case of AFH in the knee that was initially misdiagnosed as a cystic lesion. The tumor was first identified eight years earlier during the patient's initial visit, when plain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed, leading to a diagnosis of a cystic lesion.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFDedifferentiated liposarcoma is a malignant lipomatous tumor that rarely occurs in the gastrointestinal tract, including the ileocecal region. In this case, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed no fatty mass located in the mesenteric or submucosal lesion, and positron emission tomography-computed tomography showed a high maximum standardized uptake value, collectively indicating the gastrointestinal stroma tumor and lymphoma. The pathological findings resemble leiomyosarcoma; the immunohistochemistry findings including mouse double minute 2 homolog and cyclin D-dependent kinase-4 and amplification of mouse double minute 2 homolog in fluorescence hybridization just favored the diagnosis of dedifferentiated liposarcoma with leiomyosarcoma phenotype and not leiomyosarcoma.

We examined the effects of a combination of sodium/glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. Multiple regression analysis of HMGB1 was conducted on data from 252 patients in our previously reported T2DM-related clinical study.

They show variable morphology, and the differential histopathological diagnoses are broad, including lipomatous to myxoid tumors. In addition, both pathological and imaging findings may be complex, which makes diagnosis challenging.

However, sevoflurane, which is commonly used during recording of ECoG, may attenuate the MEP response. It enforces anesthesiologists and neurosurgeons to select one anesthetic agent over another, facilitating either ECoG or MEP monitoring.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOsteosarcoma (OS) is the most common primary bone tumor in children and adolescents. Prognosis is improving with advances in multidisciplinary treatment strategies, but the development of new anticancer agents has not, and improvement in prognosis for patients with pulmonary metastases has stalled. In recent years, the tumor microenvironment (TME) has gained attention as a therapeutic target for cancer.

We report an unusual case of a bone tumor-like CW mass lesion with pathological rib fractures observed 13 years after SBRT for peripheral lung cancer. Despite the initial suspicion of radiation-induced sarcoma, a subsequent incisional biopsy revealed no evidence of malignancy, and a definitive diagnosis of osteonecrosis was made.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIgG4-related disease is a rare fibroinflammatory disorder characterized by the infiltration of IgG4-rich plasma cells. Herein, we report a case of IgG4-related disease of the subcutaneous tissue with atypical MRI findings and difficulties in the histopathological examination using needle biopsy. Based on the clinical presentation and MRI findings, the patient was diagnosed with a benign myxoid or cystic tumor.

A 17-year-old boy with a history of Achilles tenotomies for congenital clubfoot as an infant presented with acute midsubstance Achilles tendon rupture of the right leg. The gastrocnemius fascia was dissected to allow for approximation of the ruptured Achilles tendon segments.

Herein, we present the case of a 35-year-old female with primary cardiac SS treated with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. She presented with chest symptoms and underwent imaging examinations.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAngiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma (AFH) is a rare tumor of mesenchymal origin occurring in young adults. Based on its clinical course, it is said to have an intermediate potential. We present a case of a 59-year-old woman with AFH in the hand that was difficult to diagnose.
