Background Context: Spondylodiscitis management presents significant clinical challenges, particularly in critically ill patients, where the risks and benefits of surgical intervention must be carefully balanced. The optimal timing of surgery in this context remains a subject of debate.
Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of early surgery versus delayed surgery or conservative management in critically ill patients with de novo pyogenic spondylodiscitis.
Introduction: Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is a prevalent condition commonly seen in elderly individuals, often requiring neurosurgical intervention.
Research Question: This study investigates patient characteristics and recurrence rates in CSDH patients treated with single or double burr hole surgery in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on patients treated for CSDH between January 2018 and December 2022.
The modern period of neurosurgery in Bosnia and Herzegovina began with the first neurosurgical procedure performed by Dr. Karl Bayer in 1891 on 3 patients with depressed skull fractures and epilepsy. In 1956 the Department of Surgery in Sarajevo designated several beds specifically for a neurosurgical unit.

Objective: The aim of this study was to report a 10 year experience of PCNSL treatment, to evaluate treatment outcomes and asses Progression Free and Overall Survival of these patients.
Many recent studies show that exoscopes are safe and effective alternatives to operating microscopes (OM). Developments of robotics and automation are present in neurosurgery with the appearance of a newer device such as RoboticScope (RS) exoscope with a digital three-dimensional (3D) image and a head-mounted display. The body of the RS is connected to a six-axis robotic arm that contains two video cameras, and serves as stereovision.

Research Question: Presentation of the results of modified surgical techniques of cranial decompression and comparing with more and less aggressive medical options.
Aim To investigate the serum value of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), proteins S-100, NSE, IL-6 in normal pressure patients (NPH) compared to control (healthy) group and also a possible correlation with radiological findings in NPH patients. Methods Study patients were included during the period of 2020- 2022. All NPH patients met the diagnostic criteria for probability of NPH.

Clinical presentation of neurosarcoidosis is very variable. Diagnosis is based on clinical and radiological criteria and histological findings of disseminated non-necrotic granuloma followed by negative cultures for bacteria and fungi.

Epileptic seizures are more common in children and adolescents than in elderly population. Electroencephalography (EEG) is a diagram of electrical activity of the brain and it is used as a method of choice for diagnosing epilepsy.

By current data, patients from Spetzler Ponce A (SP) are found to benefit from the treatment. Considering the outcome, most of SP C and some of the SP B are the most debatable.

Patients And Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed on normal controls (N=30) and 100 patients with symptomatic epilepsy caused by a primary brain tumor, divided into two groups according to the treatment: LTG monotherapy group (N=50) and CBZ monotherapy group (N=50). For each participant serum levels of 25-OHD and osteocalcin (OCLN) were measured, and bone mineral density (BMD) was evaluated by the dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry method.
Myxopapillary ependymomas (MPE) of the spinal cord are slow-growing benign tumors most frequently found in adults between 30 and 50 years of age. They arise from the ependyma of the filum terminale and are located in the area of the medullary conus and cauda. The recommended treatment option is gross total resection, while patients undergoing subtotal resection usually require radiotherapy.

Methods A retrospective cross-sectional study including 353 paediatric patients with head injury was carried out in the Department of Neurosurgery of University Clinical Centre Sarajevo during the period 1 July 2006 - 30 June 2012 (72 months). For each patient the lowest Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) was established and the patient was accordingly classified as suffering from mild, moderate or severe TBI.

There were 41 consecutive patients with intracranial meningiomas surgically treated at the Department of Neurosurgery, Zenica Cantonal Hospital, Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, during the period from January 2010 to December 2015. We reviewed clinical data including patient age, gender, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics of the tumor and peritumoral edema, tumor margins, intraoperative characteristics, histopathologic grade and Ki67 LI.

Although the size is considered a major risk factor in terms of rupture, sometimes it is the smaller aneurysm that ruptures. Here, we present the contemporary management of mirror distal anterior cerebral artery (DACA) aneurysms associated with multiple aneurysms.

Primary localization of this tumor in the intracranial space is very uncommon; only 47 cases have been described in the literature.

We present the first case of sepsis caused by transcardial and pulmonary migration of a distal catheter into the heart and pulmonary artery, which was subsequently colonized by Klebsiella pneumoniae.
Case Report: A 56-year-old man underwent VP shunt insertion for hydrocephalus that developed after the surgery for intracranial meningioma.
Objective: We present a case of relapsing tumefactive demyelination in a young female patient, that posed a real diagnostic challenge, with a heterogeneous clinical picture, atypical for multiple sclerosis (MS) presentation, and neuroradiological manifestations with a high suspicion of neoplastic diseases.
Case Report: An 18-year old female patient presented to our Neurosurgical Out-patients' Clinic with symptoms atypical for multiple sclerosis, unremarkable neurological deficit, one tumefactive lesion on MRI, followed by relapse and another two lesions within a period of six months. We decided to perform biopsy of the tumefactive lesion with compressive effect.
Lobus v. azygos (lobe of the azygos vein, azygos lobe) is an accessory lobe of the right upper lobe of the lung that corresponds to the anatomical variety. The presence of expansive lesions in it represents unusual radiographic findings.

In this paper we are presenting the application of Multislice CT Scan (MSCT) as a part of radiological treatment in a female patient with avascular necrosis of head and neck of the right femur, which occurred as a consequence of developmental hip dysplasia. The left hip joint of the patient was previously replaced by a prosthetic implant.

Current approaches to managing these conditions are based either on intracranial pressure-targeted therapy (ICP-targeted) with cerebral microdialysis (CM) monitoring according to the modified Lund concept or cerebral perfusion pressure-targeted therapy (CPP-targeted). We present a prospective, randomised controlled study comparing relative effectiveness of the two management strategies.
