Article Synopsis
  • Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among women in Kuwait, and a study examined 823 cases from the Kuwait Cancer Control Center to understand clinical features and treatment results compared to other regions.
  • The study found that Kuwaiti breast cancer patients were, on average, a decade younger than those in Western countries; 90.4% underwent surgery, with a mix of lumpectomy and mastectomy, while many also received radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
  • Long-term survival rates showed 76% overall survival and 54% disease-free survival, indicating similar effectiveness between breast conservation and mastectomy, suggesting the need for broader adoption of breast conservation methods in treatment.
