Accelerated photocarcinogenesis and multifocal squamous cell carcinomas associated with voriconazole and human papillomavirus in HIV - case report.

Voriconazole is an antifungal with known side effects of phototoxicity and photocarcinogenesis. We present a case of HPV-related multifocal squamous cell carcinoma in a 68-year-old man with HIV, due to accelerated photocarcinogenesis associated with long-term use of voriconazole. Histology confirmed SCC with HPV-related features and he was found to have metastases.

Patient-reported outcome and cost implication of acute salvage of infected implant-based breast reconstruction with negative pressure wound therapy with Instillation (NPWTi) compared to standard care.

Introduction: Implant loss due to infection is the most devastating complication of implant-based breast reconstruction. The use of negative pressure wound therapy with instillation(NPWTi) for salvage of infected implant-based breast reconstructions has shown promising results allowing early reinsertion of a new implant as an alternative to the current management with delayed reinsertion. This study compares the patient-reported outcome and cost implication of NPWTi to the current management.

Clinical application and efficacy of negative pressure wound therapy with instillation and dwell time (NPWTi-d): A systematic review and meta-analysis.

This study evaluates the current clinical evidence of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy with Instillation and dwell time (NPWTi-d) to establish its clinical application and efficacy. MEDLINE, EMBASE, and CENTRAL databases were searched from 1946 to July 2019 for studies reporting clinical outcomes on wounds treated with NPWTi-d. The primary outcome was proportion of wounds with complete healing.

Measuring Differential Volume Using the Subtraction Tool for Three-Dimensional Breast Volumetry: A Proof of Concept Study.

Three-dimensional (3D) photography provides a promising means of breast volumetry. Sources of error using a single-captured surface to calculate breast volume include inaccurate designation of breast boundaries and prediction of the invisible chest wall generated by computer software. An alternative approach is to measure differential volume using subtraction of 2 captured surfaces.

Role of oxygen in wound healing.

Not only does oxygen play an essential role in each stage of the wound healing process. It also helps to increases host resistance to infection. Any impairment to the oxygen supply can therefore delay healing.

Negative pressure wound therapy with instillation: International consensus guidelines update.

The use of negative pressure wound therapy with instillation and dwell time (NPWTi-d) has gained wider adoption and interest due in part to the increasing complexity of wounds and patient conditions. Best practices for the use of NPWTi-d have shifted in recent years based on a growing body of evidence and expanded worldwide experience with the technology. To better guide the use of NPWTi-d with all dressing and setting configurations, as well as solutions, there is a need to publish updated international consensus guidelines, which were last produced over 6 years ago.

Patient satisfaction and aesthetic outcomes after ear reconstruction with a Branemark-type, bone-anchored, ear prosthesis: a 16 year review.

Introduction: Reconstruction of the human ear with a bone-anchored prosthesis is a widely accepted alternative when autologous reconstruction is technically impossible or declined by the individual. However, there are relatively few data in the literature documenting patient satisfaction with this form of reconstruction.

Methods: This study examines different aspects of patient satisfaction using an eighteen-point postal questionnaire to measure patient outcomes against a Likert rating scale.
