The COVID-19 pandemic further highlighted the need to use low-cost remote monitoring procedures for medical patients. Since the results reported in the literature have shown that the use of Channel State Information (CSI) from Wi-Fi networks to remotely monitor patients can provide means to obtain a powerful medical information package in a non-invasive way and at low cost, a consistent review and analysis of the state of the art on this applied technique is developed in the present work. Initially, a mathematical overview of the CSI technology and its functional model is done.
