Influence of dietary protein and fiber intake interactions on the human gut microbiota composition and function: a systematic review and network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Quantity and source of dietary protein intakes impact the gut microbiota differently. However, these effects have not been systematically studied. This review aimed to investigate these effects whilst controlling for fiber intake.

The effect of time on qualitative compliance in brace treatment for AIS.

Brace treatment is the most commonly used non-surgical treatment method for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). This study is to determine the force changes exerted by a brace over time during both day and night-time wear and to explore correlations between force changes to bracing outcomes. Twenty subjects (three male, 17 female) diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis who had worn their braces for six months participated into this study.

Randomized phase II study comparing thalidomide with medroxyprogesterone acetate in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma.

Purpose: To investigate escalating doses of thalidomide compared with medroxyprogesterone in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC), who had either progressed after first-line immunotherapy or who were not suitable for immunotherapy.

Patients And Methods: Thalidomide was started at 100 mg/d orally (PO) and escalated by 100 mg/d every 2 weeks to the maximum dose of 400 mg/d. Medroxyprogesterone was given at a fixed dose of 300 mg PO daily.

Mechanisms of decidualization.

The uterus is composed of heterogeneous cell types that undergo cyclic synchronized waves of proliferation and differentiation in response to the rise and fall of ovarian oestrogen and progesterone. The spatial and temporal diversity in cellular responses to ovarian hormones within a given endometrial cell compartment is thought to be effected by locally released factors. These endometrial polypeptides bind to specific cell surface receptors on target cells, resulting in activation of signal transduction pathways by way of coupling to GTP-binding proteins (G proteins), or through autophosphorylation in response to conformational changes induced by the binding of ligand.

Aromatase P450 messenger RNA expression in eutopic endometrium is not a specific marker for pelvic endometriosis.

Objective: To determine whether expression of aromatase P450 mRNA in eutopic endometrium is predictive of the presence of pelvic endometriosis.

Design: A prospective, multicenter, observational study.

Setting: Four tertiary centers for reproductive medicine.
