Objective: Fibromyalgia (FM) is defined by idiopathic, chronic, widespread musculoskeletal pain. In adults with FM, a metaanalysis of lower-leg skin biopsy demonstrated 45% pooled prevalence of abnormally low epidermal neurite density (END). END < 5th centile of the normal distribution is the consensus diagnostic threshold for small-fiber neuropathy.

Permanent Supportive Housing and Specialized Co-Occurring Disorders Wraparound Services for Homeless Individuals.

Objective: Among individuals experiencing chronic homelessness, there is a high rate of co-occurring mental health and substance use, which has traditionally been addressed through the delivery of permanent supportive housing along with substance use and mental health services. However, this population often has difficulty engaging in treatment for co-occurring disorders, which can result in exacerbation of symptoms and housing loss. Maintaining Independence and Sobriety Through Systems Integration, Outreach, and Networking (MISSION) is a co-occurring mental health and substance use wraparound approach that was pilot-tested alongside Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) to improve treatment access and engagement.

Integrating a Co-occurring Disorders Intervention in Drug Courts: An Open Pilot Trial.

Little research has focused on systematically integrating clinical treatment within existing drug court procedures. This could be particularly useful for clients with substance use disorders, who comprise those on court dockets and often have co-existing mental health issues. This article reports on the preliminary outcomes of integrating MISSION-Criminal Justice (MISSION-CJ), a co-occurring mental health and substance use wraparound intervention, within two Massachusetts drug courts.

Baseline omega-3 index correlates with aggressive and attention deficit disorder behaviours in adult prisoners.

Background: There is emerging evidence that the supplementation of omega-3 contributes to a decrease in aggressive behaviour in prison populations. A challenge of such research is achieving statistical power against effect sizes which may be affected by the baseline omega-3 index. There are no published data on the blood omega-3 index with studies of this kind to assess the variability of the blood omega-3 index in conjunction with aggression and attention deficit assessments.
