Background: Although aging is known to be associated with an increased incidence of both atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, there is limited knowledge about how Schwann cells (SC) and the intracardiac nervous system (iCNS) remodel with age. Here we investigate the differences in cardiac SC, parasympathetic nerve fibers, and muscarinic acetylcholine receptor M2 (M2R) expression in young and old mice. Additionally, we examine age-related changes in cardiac responses to sympathomimetic and parasympathomimetic drugs.

Background: Arrhythmias may originate from surgically unaffected right ventricular (RV) regions in patients with tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). We aimed to investigate action potential (AP) remodelling and arrhythmia susceptibility in RV myocardium of patients with repaired and with unrepaired TOF, identify possible correlations with clinical phenotype and myocardial fibrosis, and compare findings with data from patients with atrial septal defect (ASD), a less severe congenital heart disease.

Methods: Intracellular AP were recorded ex vivo in RV outflow tract samples from 22 TOF and three ASD patients.

Objective: The aim of this pilot study was to determine whether the low anti-müllerian hormone (AMH) serum level, due to severe endometriosis, was associated with diminished oocyte yield, poor oocyte/embryo quality and reduced in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) clinical outcomes in young patients (<37 years old).

Patients And Methods: A total of 50 IVF cycles of patients younger than 37 with severe endometriosis were retrospectively analyzed in a single center between November 2016 and July 2018. The clinical outcome was then compared to a control group of 84 patients with no story of endometriosis and normal AMH value.

This prospective longitudinal study investigated the effects of a dietary supplement in patients affected by reduced sperm motility (asthenospermic males) with metabolic syndrome. The product tested was Andrositol®, which contains myoinositol (MI) as principal compound, in association with other molecules, and the parameters evaluated were semen characteristics as well as hormone and metabolic profiles. The inclusion criteria were subjects aged over 18 years, with asthenospermia and metabolic syndrome.

Male fertility significantly decreased in the last 50 years, as showed in several studies reporting a reduction of sperm counts per ml in the seminal fluid. Several "acute" pharmacological treatments, as antibiotics, could cause subclinical and temporary reduction of male fertility; conversely, long-term medical treatment may severely affect male fertility, although this effect could be considered transient in most of the cases. Thus, nowadays, several long-term pharmacological treatments may represent a clinical challenge.

Introduction: the use of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) in the diagnosis of rare genetic pathologies is becoming ever more widespread in clinical practice. The following study reports the first case of preimplantation diagnosis through NGS of a form of LAMA2-related muscular dystrophy.
