[Metabolic disorders after performance of total pancreatectomy].

The literature data concerning metabolic disorders after performance of total pancreatectomy and the results of analysis of this intervention, done in 2003-2004 yrs in 4 patients are presented.

[Analysis of immediate complications and mortality after performance of pancreatic resection].

Experience of performance of pancreatic resection during two years in the clinic was summarized. In 90.4% of patients there was revealed malignant tumor, as a rule, in III-IV stage, complicated by jaundice, gastrointestinal bleeding and ileus.

[Prophylaxis and treatment of postoperative complications in patients with malignant hepatopancreatobiliary tumors complicated by jaundice].

Results of the patients treatment, in whom biliodigestive anastomosis was performed for hepatopancreatobiliary zone cancer, were adduced. Among early complications hepatorenal insufficiency, septic-purulent and thrombohemorrhagic complications, postoperative pancreatitis, an acute purulent cholangitis had prevailed. The late complications were mainly presented by the biliary ducts cicatricial stricture, the jaundice and cholangitis recurrency.

[Long-term survival of patients with carcinoma of the pancreas complicated by jaundice].

Over the period 1998-2001 a total of 78 patients with III to IV stage carcinoma of the pancreas complicated by jaundice underwent symptomatic and palliative operations. In all patients, the diagnosis was verified histologically with the aid of intraoperative fine-needle biopsy, incision biopsy or in the postoperative period marked by appearance of metastases in the liver--by progressive rise in the CA19-9 marker level. In the postoperative period, immunochemotherapy with the drug amitosine was instituted.

[Epidural chemical denervation as a component of palliative therapy of patients with non-inflammatory pancreatic disease].

In 16 patients with noninflammatory disease of pancreas, cancer, fibrosis of pancreas efficacy of application of epidural chemical denervation (ECD) was studied. In comparison with conventional medicinal anesthesia there was noted the lowering of necessity in analgetic preparations using morphine equivalent dosage by 75%. In such patients the ECD technology may be recommended as a component of palliative therapy.

[Ethanol injections in the integrated treatment of non-resectable malignant pancreatic tumor complicated by jaundice].

Results of treatment were analyzed in 28 patients with nonresectable pancreatic cancer (III-IV stages) complicated by jaundice, to whom in complex of treatment (biliodigestive shunting, in some of patients with hepatic dearterialyzation, gastroenterostomy, pancreatodigestive shunting) 96% ethanol was injected into the tumor. The complications frequency had constituted 21.4%, mortality--14.

[Prophylaxis of gastrointestinal hemorrhage in patients with noninflammatory pancreatic disease complicated by jaundice].

Frequency, severity of clinical course, pathophysiological mechanisms of occurrence and consequences of gastroduodenal erosion and ulcer, complicated by hemorrhage, were analyzed in patients with noninflammatory diseases of pancreas, complicated by jaundice, by cancer, in particular. Basing on investigations done there was elaborated complex programme of prophylaxis of gastrointestinal hemorrhage occurrence in such patients.

[The initial experience of using the preparation Ukrain in treating cancer patients in Ukraine].

The chair of general surgery and the chair of oncology of the Ukrainian State Medical University have made a study into the use of the preparation "Ukrain" in the treatment of oncological patients. Early results of therapy of 23 patients confirm the evidence suggesting to us that "Ukrain" is endowed with cancerostatic activity, has immunopotentiating effect with no toxicity.

[The possibilities for correcting the dysbacteriosis occurring in the prolonged external diversion of bile].

The possibility to correct postoperative dysbacteriosis in patients, who had their operation been completed with external drainage of the common bile duct, was studied. Resulting from the use of Normaze preparation in combination with Bifidumbacterin adsorbed on SKN carbon sorbent, the composition of intestinal microflora has restored, bile structure improved.
