[Effect of citrate, tartrate, succinate and phosphate ions on the penetration of phosphorus-labelled anions into erythrocytes].

Membrane permeability for different ions may successfully be evaluated under conditions of ionic equilibrium, which provides osmotic equilibrium in the cell and steadiness of its volume. The present investigation was promoted on red cells of experimental animals under conditions of ionic equilibrium, using P32 with up to 30 microCi activity. Unidirectional penetration of ions in the red cells was studied.
