We optimized the method of isolation of antibodies from placental tissue of a conventionally healthy patient. Four protocols of antibody isolation were evaluated and a protocol with tissue grinding (without homogenization) and successive elution of the antibodies with acidic and alkaline buffers was recommended for use. The repertoire of the isolated antibodies was characterized using a glycan array.

Aim: To realize two minimally invasive techniques of scleral collagen cross-linking (SXL) at the equator and posterior pole of the eye: 1) targeted irradiation of the region with ultraviolet A (UVA) and 2) sub-Tenon injection of Sklerateks.

Material And Methods: To perform UVA-SXL, a tool was developed that includes a UV-LED light source (370 nm, 3 mW/cm2) and a polymer-coated silica multimode optical fiber located in one of the two channels of a detachable metal tip. The other channel is used to deliver riboflavin to the scleral surface.

The goal of the investigation was to study the changes of scleral matrix collagen in progressing primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). In scleral samples of 16 patients aged 52-81 years with different stages of POAG amino acid composition, collagen content and cross-linking ratio characterizing tissue rigidity were estimated. Collagen I was found to be the dominant type in sclera of glaucomatous and normal eyes, though as POAG progressing the content and cross-linking increase, that underlies the scleral rigidity increase and permeability decrease.

The thermal behavior, birefringence properties, and the biochemical composition of thyroid cartilage tissues have been studied. The hyaline cartilage, which was visualized as a quasi-isotropic medium, was composed of type II collagen, which did not denature at temperatures up to 100 degrees C. However, in hyaline cartilage digested by trypsin, the denaturation of collagen occured at 60 degrees C.

Cartilaginous and connective tissues were exposed to a moderate-intensity IR laser treatment with IR radiometric temperature control. The isotherms of water sorption by dry preparations of intact and laser-treated tissues were obtained and calculated in terms of well known models. It was shown that the sorption capacity of a monolayer of tissues decreases with increasing temperature during laser treatment.

Microdoses of a preparation of pancreatic RNase were shown to stimulate the growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. The effect was only retained at a certain inoculum/enzyme preparation ratio. Industrial tests of the preparation showed that the addition of RNase to the first reservoirs for culture accumulation (an inoculator and a seeding device) increased the yield of bakers' yeast and improved their quality.

The structural and functional changes in organs and tissues of 30 young mice born from mothers treated intravenously with irradiation-inactivated influenza virus were studied. A detailed morphological analysis showed that a single inoculation of pregnant females with inactivated influenza virus resulted in the progeny in morphological lesions in organs and tissues typical of slow influenza infection.
