Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is related to high morbidity and mortality and loss of quality of life. Likewise, hyperparathyroidism is associated to progressive loss of renal function, with increased phosphate and decrease calcium levels, which induce the secretion of parathyroid hormone.

Culture collections such as the Blue Biotechnology and Ecotoxicology Culture Collection (LEGE-CC) hold approximately 1200 cyanobacterial strains and are critical community resources. However, many isolates in this and other collections have not been described with a polyphasic approach, and this limits further study. Monitoring water supply requires, among other quality indicators, the identification of the cyanobacteria community and taking into account their potential impact in terms of water quality. In this work, cyanobacteria strains were isolated from the Cheffia Reservoir and identified based on morphological features, the 16S rRNA gene, phylogenetic analysis, and toxin production by polymerase chain reaction PCR screening of the genes involved in the biosynthesis of cyanotoxins (, , , , , , and ). Telemedicine has been shown to improve the outcome of heart failure (HF) patients in addition to medical and device therapy. We investigate the effectiveness of a comprehensive telehealth programme in patients with recent hospitalisation for HF on subsequent HF hospitalisations and mortality compared to usual care in a real-world setting. γ-Aminobutyric acid type A receptors that incorporate α5 subunits (α5-GABARs) are highly enriched in the hippocampus and are strongly implicated in control of learning and memory. Receptors located on pyramidal neuron dendrites have long been considered responsible, but here we report that mice in which α5-GABARs have been eliminated from pyramidal neurons (α5-pyr-KO) continue to form strong spatial engrams and that they remain as sensitive as their pseudo-wild-type (p-WT) littermates to etomidate-induced suppression of place cells and spatial engrams. By contrast, mice with selective knockout in interneurons (α5-i-KO) no longer exhibit etomidate-induced suppression of place cells.

A theoretical picture describing the tensile strength σ_{T} of elastomers is developed. σ_{T} is composed of three factors: (1) the tensile strength of individual polymer load-bearing chains (LBCs) according to Eyring's theory, (2) an occupation number of LBC states using Fermi statistics, and (3) an excluded volume factor reducing the number of possible LBCs due to the presence of filler particles or crosslinks between polymers. This description is compared to experimental tensile strengths of carbon black (N339)-filled EPDM (Keltan 4450) as well as to other experiments in the literature studying the effects of temperature, filler concentration, and particle size as well as crosslink density.

Current theoretical descriptions of rubber or elastomer friction are complex-usually due to extensive mathematical detail describing the topography of the solid surface. In addition, the viscoelastic properties of the elastomer material itself, in particular if the rubber is highly filled, further increase the complexity.
