Tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factors (TRAFs) act as signal transducers and are critical in many biological processes. However, in contrast to mammals, the function of TRAFs in teleost is still largely unknown. View Article and Find Full Text PDFTNFAIP3-interacting protein 1 (TNIP1; also known as ABIN-1) is a ubiquitin-binding protein that suppresses death-receptor- or Toll-like receptor-mediated apoptosis and necroptosis; however, it remains unclear whether ABIN-1 is capable of regulating pyroptosis. In the present study, we found that, in mouse embryonic fibroblasts and macrophages, ABIN-1 deficiency sensitized cells to poly(I:C) + TAK1 inhibitor 5Z-7-oxozeaenol-induced pyroptosis besides apoptosis and necroptosis. The sensitizing effect of ABIN-1 deficiency on pyroptosis depended on caspase-8 and its adaptor molecule FAS-associated death domain protein.

Background: Heatstroke is a life-threatening disease. Present study was aimed to investigate the mechanism in heat induced intestinal epithelial cell death.
Method: Heat stress in vitro model was established on IEC cells with 42℃ for 2 h.
Introduction: Water-assisted colonoscopy increases left colon mucus production; however, the effect of saline on mucus production is unclear. We tested the hypothesis that saline infusion may reduce mucus production in a dose-related manner.
Methods: In a randomized trial, patients were assigned to colonoscopy with CO 2 insufflation, water exchange (WE) with warm water, 25% saline, or 50% saline.

Tebipenem pivoxil is the first orally available carbapenem antibiotic and has been approved in Japan for treating ear, nose, and throat and respiratory infections in pediatric patients. Its active moiety, tebipenem, has shown potent antimicrobial activity against clinical isolates of species from patients with urinary tract infections (UTIs), including those producing extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) and/or AmpC β-lactamase. In the present study, tebipenem was tested for stability to hydrolysis by a set of clinically relevant β-lactamases, including TEM-1, AmpC, CTX-M, OXA-48, KPC, and NDM-1 enzymes.
