Background: Gastric cancer disproportionately impacts populations in resource-limited settings. Within a safety-net network, we assessed the utility of computed tomography (CT) as a single staging modality.
Methods: We utilized a clinical database of gastric cancer patients treated within the Los Angeles County safety-net hospital system from 2016 to 2023 in conjunction with retrospective imaging review by certified radiologists.
Background: The new United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) heart allocation policy prioritizes temporary percutaneous over durable left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) as bridge to transplant. We sought to examine 1-year outcomes of heart transplant recipients bridged with Impella versus durable LVADs.
Methods: All primary adult orthotopic heart transplant recipients registered in UNOS between January 2016 and June 2021 were analyzed.
Aldehyde dehydrogenases (ALDHs) catalyze the conversion of various aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes into corresponding carboxylic acids. Traditionally considered as housekeeping enzymes, new biochemical roles are being identified for members of ALDH family. Recent work showed that AldA from the plant pathogen Pseudomonas syringae strain PtoDC3000 (PtoDC3000) functions as an indole-3-acetaldehyde dehydrogenase for the synthesis of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA).

So far, little attention has been given to the subregion centromeric of MHC class II. We selected five single nucleotide polymorphisms in genes with potential immune-related functions in the genomic regions of death-domain-associated protein 6 (DAXX, apoptosis associated), TAP-binding protein (TAPBP, human leukocyte antigen class I loading) and retinoic acid receptor beta (RXRB, vitamin D receptor function) that may bear relevance to the pathogenesis of T1D.
