Fetal anomalies associated with HNF1B mutations: report of 20 autopsy cases.

Objectives: To describe macroscopic and microscopic anomalies present in fetuses carrying hepatocyte nuclear factor-1 β mutation, their frequency, and genotype/phenotype correlations.

Methods: Clinical data, ultrasound findings, genetic studies, and autopsy reports of 20 fetal autopsies were analyzed. Histology was reviewed by two pathologists.

Accuracy of dry vaginal self-sampling for detecting high-risk human papillomavirus infection in cervical cancer screening: a cross-sectional study.

Objective: Cervical cancer screening coverage remains insufficient in most countries. Testing self-collected samples for high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) could be an alternative to the Pap smear, but costs, sampling methods and transport issues hamper its wide use. Our objective was to compare diagnostic accuracy of 2 vaginal self-collection methods, a dry swab (vsc-DRY) or swab in liquid medium (vsc-LIQ), for detecting HR-HPV cervical infection assessed by a cervical clinician-collected sample in liquid medium (ccc-LIQ).

Alpha-methyl CoA racemase expression in renal cell carcinomas.

Alpha-methyl CoA racemase (AMACR), a new molecular marker for prostate cancer, has been recently reported to be one of the most highly expressed genes in papillary renal cell carcinomas (RCCs). We tested the diagnostic usefulness of AMACR antibody in a series of 110 renal tumors: 53 papillary RCCs (33 type 1, 20 type 2); 25 conventional RCCs; 6 chromophobe RCCs; 9 oncocytomas; 5 mucinous tubular and spindle tumors; 2 urothelial carcinomas; 7 angiomyolipomas; and 2 Bellini carcinomas. Immunohistochemical staining was performed on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections, with a primary prediluted rabbit monoclonal anti-AMACR antibody.

[Regenerative nodular hyperplasia: variable clinical aspects].

Background: Regenerative nodular hyperplasia can take on very misleading aspects making diagnosis difficult.

Case Reports: We report three cases of regenerative nodular hyperplasia (RNH). In the first patient rupture of esophageal varices was associated with myelofibrosis.

Background: Extrapulmonary manifestations of tuberculosis are increasing in incidence. Abdominal tuberculosis may mimic a variety of gastrointestinal disorders. The diagnosis of abdominal tuberculosis is still difficult to establish before surgery.
