Background: Epidemiological studies have demonstrated that severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)-positive patients often develop atrial fibrillation, premature ventricular contractions (PVCs), and conduction disorders. The manifestation of ventricular cardiac arrhythmias accentuates the risk of sudden cardiac death.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on the cohort of 1,614 patients admitted for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Breast Cancer Res Treat
June 2021
Purpose: The heterogeneity of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) confers variable response to chemotherapy that results in poor outcome and relapse. Due to lack of targeted therapy, there is a need to provide molecular classification of TNBC and identify probable therapeutic targets.
Methods: We classified TNBC into surrogate molecular subtypes by immunohistochemistry and evaluated hotspot mutations (N = 80) in PIK3CA (exon 4, 9, and 20) and AKT1 (exon 2) in TNBC subtypes by Sanger sequencing.
The aim of our study was to identify the relationship between TGF-β1, arterial stiffness, and target organ damage in patients with uncontrolled arterial hypertension (UAH). The study included 140 patients with hypertension: 30 people with uncontrolled hypertension (UAH), 80 people with controlled hypertension (CAH) and 30 people in the control group. All patients underwent determination of arterial stiffness using cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI) and TGF-β1 level.

In such multidisciplinary medical centers with mixed hospital beds without a nominal distinction in the nosological departments, a new therapeutic service is being developed - hospitalists, which provide a consistent curation of hospitalized patients, compensation of chronic therapeutic illnesses with patient's preparation for surgical interventions. Our work describes the experience of Fast Track recovery program with the active participation of a hospitalist in a surgical team, which is a new experience in the practice of Russian colorectal surgery.
