The kinetics of wheat flour water uptake at 15, 25, 35 and 45 degrees C and different relative humidities from 43.2 to 85.9 was investigated.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFImmunological and electron microscopy investigations of the phagocytic and killing activities of peritoneal macrophages from rats and mice against Yersinia enterocolitica serotype O:8 cells were performed. The effect of in vivo application of cytoplasmic membranes (CM) from the stable Escherichia coli WF+ L-form on macrophage activity was also studied. It was established that rat macrophages more actively phagocytosed the plasmidless pYV(-) Y.

Calves of two breeds--Brown Latvian and Black and White, were immunized against bovine leukemia virus with an immunogen produced from short-term cultured blood lymphocytes of BLV-positive Brown Latvian cows. The immunogen contained the viral proteins gp51 and p24 as well as some cellular proteins. As determined by bioassay in sheep, it did not contain infective bovine leukemia virus.

Electron- and immunoelectron-microscopic methods were used for detection and investigation of rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV). The observed virus particles were uncoated, with an icosahedral symmetry, with a 35-40 nm dia and capsids built up by 32 capsomers with a central hollow part and a 3.5-5 nm dia.

It was found in certain parenchymal liver cells near the interlobular septs and in some macrophages and pseudoeosinophils of all studied organs and blood. Whereas in morphologically preserved hepatocytes and macrophages the RHDVA accumulated in the nuclei, in cells with disintegrated nuclei it was distributed throughout the cytoplasm.
