Genome instability is a characteristic trait of tumours and includes changes in DNA and in chromosomes. The aim of the study was to identify chromosome damage using the sister chromatid exchange assay and DNA fragmentation by the comet assay in dogs with cancer, as well as to determine the suitability of these techniques for the assessment of chromatin stability in healthy and sick dogs. The assays identified genomic instabilities in dogs with cancer (squamous cell carcinoma) and in healthy dogs.

Introduction: Immunoglobulin G (IgG) contains a conserved N-glycan in the fragment crystallizable (Fc), modulating its structure and effector functions. In anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) alterations of IgG Fc-glycosylation have been observed to correlate with the disease course. Here, we examined longitudinal changes in Nlinked Fc glycans of IgG in an AAV patient cohort and their relationship with disease flares.

The demographic history of East-Central Europe after the Neolithic period remains poorly explored, despite this region being on the confluence of various ecological zones and cultural entities. Here, the descendants of societies associated with steppe pastoralists form Early Bronze Age were followed by Middle Bronze Age populations displaying unique characteristics. Particularly, the predominance of collective burials, the scale of which, was previously seen only in the Neolithic.

Fish absorb dioxins from the environment through water and contact with sediments but the main source is food. These contaminants also enter the human body with food, including through the consumption of fish. This study presents the dioxin and polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) concentrations in 145 samples of four fish species (herring, sprat, sea trout, salmon) caught in the southern Baltic Sea.
