Analysis of fatty acid methyl esters with high accuracy and reliability. VI. Rapid analysis by split injection capillary gas-liquid chromatography.

Of the several facets of technique that must be addressed to allow the generation of highly accurate results by gas chromatographic analysis of fatty acid methyl esters, that of split injection to capillary columns has long been a major problem. A practical solution of this problem is now proposed. Three factors were found to be of major importance in achieving highly accurate results viz.

Yersinia pseudotuberculosis with inflammation of the appendix: a case report.

Human enteric infection with Yersinia enterocolitica or Yersinia pseudotuberculosis may masquerade clinically as acute appendicitis but it is unusual for the appendix to be histologically inflamed. We report a case of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis infection in which acute appendicitis was present in the absence of terminal ileitis.

Diagnosis of amniotic fluid embolism using an antiserum to human keratin.

Sections of lung from four maternal deaths have been stained with an antibody raised to human keratin. This method has been found to be a more sensitive technique for determining amniotic fluid emboli than other special stains and has shown a higher incidence than expected.
