[Tongue structure, position and function in cleft lip and palate children assessed by ultrasound examination].

The aim of the study was to examine the position and function of the tongue in cleft lip and palate (CLP) patients and to reveal their impact on alveolar bone development. Two hundred and fifty-eight CLP children and 50 healthy children as control group were included in the study. Tongue function and position were assessed by ultrasound examination.

The influence of BM-7-02 compound on the production of cytokines in the culture of healthy volunteers' blood cells. This compound suppresses the production of main cytokine (gamma-IFN, IL-2 and IL-4) synthesized by CD4+ Th1 and Th2 cells, stimulates the production of TNF-alpha and IL-6, and does not change the production of IL-1 beta.

[Use of maleic acid by mixed cultures of microorganisms].

In a mixed batch culture, Alcaligenes xylosoxidans subsp. xylosoxidans 260 transformed maleic acid into malic acid. Bacillus subtilis 271 used malic acid as a substrate, thus stimulating further transformation of maleic acid.

Contribution of interleukin-1 to Th1- and Th2-dependent variants of chronic graft-versus-host reaction.

Semiallogenic transfer of lymphoid cells from parental DBA/2 strain to (C57Bl/6xDBA/2)F1 hybrids induces two variants of chronic graft-versus-host reaction with predominant activation of donor Th1 or Th2 cells [2] in genetically homologous recipients: first, severe inhibition of the humoral immune response, or second, autoimmune disease (lupus nephritis) against the background of suppressed cell and humoral immunity. These variants of chronic graft-versus-host reaction are characterized by different changes in interleukin-1 level.
