Daughters of PCOS mothers and AMH plasma concentrations in pre-puberty and puberty: A meta-analysis.

Purpose: to compare the Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) plasma concentrations of pre-pubertal and pubertal daughters born to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) mothers to daughters born to control mothers and to investigate their alterations during pre-puberty and all stages of puberty.

Methods: We critically investigated and meta-analyzed observational studies, which compared the plasma concentrations of AMH in pre-pubertal and pubertal daughters of PCOS pregnancies. A search of the literature was completed till the end of June of 2024 in the PubMed, Scopus, and Medline for the eligible studies.

Is Early Menopause a Different Entity From Premature Ovarian Insufficiency?

Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI, defined as age at menopause < 40 years) affects 1%-3% of postmenopausal women. It is positively associated with an increased risk of diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, fractures, cognitive impairment, and depression. Early menopause (EM, defined as age at menopause < 45 years) is also associated with these adverse health consequences, in most cases to the same degree as in POI.

Introduction: Sexual health and wellbeing are significant aspects of quality of life. However, taking a sexual history is often avoided in medical practice, leaving a void in management and awareness. As the menopause can have a major impact on sexual health, it is imperative that healthcare providers are appropriately trained in sexual health and wellbeing and the aligned disciplines in order to achieve optimal care.
