[Nab-Paclitaxel plus Gemcitabine for Patients with Recurrence after Resection for Adenocarcinoma of the Pancreas].

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to clarify the predictors of efficacy of nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine(GnP)for patients with recurrence after resection for adenocarcinoma of the pancreas.

Method: Patients who had received GnP at our hospital were divided into 2 groups; effective group and non-effective group and we compared them. In addition, we compared the therapeutic effect of patients between well-differentiated adenocarcinoma and moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma.

Early Drain Removal Regardless of Drain Fluid Amylase Level Might Reduce Risk of Postoperative Pancreatic Fistula.

Background/aim: Drains are frequently placed at the time of distal pancreatectomy (DP) to evacuate pancreatic juice and intra-abdominal exudate and obtain information on abdominal cavity status. However, the timing of drain removal remains debatable. Meanwhile, prolonged drain placement might increase the risk of postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF), with a prevalence of 5-40%.

Efficacy of internal limiting membrane removal for retinal detachments resulting from a myopic macular hole.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of internal limiting membrane (ILM) or epiretinal membrane removal during pars plana vitrectomy for a retinal detachment resulting from a macular hole in myopic eyes.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in a single institution. Twenty-six highly myopic eyes with a retinal detachment resulting from a macular hole were studied.

[A patient with HTLV I-associated myelopathy (HAM) complaining of burning pain on the bilateral feet: a case report].

A 67-year-old man complained of a burning pain and weakness of bilateral feet after contusion of the left lumbar region. Skin as well as bone dystrophy and disturbance of bladder function were not seen, but low skin temperature was observed in the left lower leg. Glove anesthesia was seen on bilateral feet.

S-cone electroretinograms in multiple evanescent white dot syndrome.

Cone electroretinograms (ERGs), elicited by different color flashes under Ganzfeld conditions, were recorded from 6 patients with multiple evanescent white dot syndrome (MEWDS). All of the patients had normal color vision as determined by the Farnsworth Panel D-15 except for one who showed non-specific errors. The b-waves elicited from short wavelength sensitive (S-) cones were reduced more than the mixed long (L-) and middle (M-) wavelength sensitive cones in the affected eyes.
