Study regarding the microscopic aspects of pilo-sebaceous units after antiandrogen treatment in hirsute women.

Aim: To analyze the morphological data of pilo-sebaceous units in hirsute women before and 12 months after the antiandrogen treatment with Cyproterone acetate (CPA) 100 mg÷day.

Materials And Methods: Fourteen female patients with idiopathic hirsutism that followed an antiandrogen treatment with CPA were biopsied from the androgen-dependent area of the chin before and 12 months after the treatment. Routine sections were stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin, Masson, Van Gieson, Sirius red and picric-indigocarmine, while additional sections were immunostained for S100 protein and vimentin.

Prevalence of endemic goiter in Mureş County.

A number of 20,000 children representing 91.19% of all the enlisted children aged 6-14 years were examined. The clinical status of each child was assessed according to the WHO criteria.

Studies concerning the role of myocardial hypertrophy and of intramural tension as determinants of the increased voltage in concentric left ventricular hypertrophy.

In order to study the role of myocardial hypertrophy and of the intramural tension as determinants of the increased voltage in concentric left ventricular hypertrophy, the amplitude of intracellular action potentials in frog and rat myocardium and of monophasic action potentials recorded in dogs by suction electrodes were studied. Increased amplitudes of intracellular action potentials were seen neither in experimental LVH in rats nor during stretch in frog and rat myocardium. The increased intramural tension in dog heart during norepinephrine perfusion or in heart-lung preparation during increased peripheral resistance does not increase the amplitude of monophasic action potentials.

Researches on neuro-muscular functional parameters in experimentally hyperthyroidized rats and in human hyperthyroidism.

The authors have determined the neuro-muscular functional parameters of conductibility and excitability in normal and hyperthyroidized rats. The determination of hyperthyroidization and of the neuro-muscular functional parameters was accomplished by utilizing an own experimental model. The data obtained in rats were compared with those established by authors in normals and in patients suffering from hyperthyroidism.
