Microbiological and Molecular Investigation of Antimicrobial Resistance in Isolates from Western Romanian Dairy Farms: An Epidemiological Approach.

Antimicrobial therapy is the most frequently used medical intervention for bovine mastitis in the dairy industry. This study aims to monitor the extent of the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) problem in in the dairy industry in Western Romania. Twenty farms were selected by random sampling in a transverse epidemiological study conducted across four counties in Western Romania and divided into livestock units.

Simultaneous Occurrence of Hypospadias and Bilateral Cleft Lip and Jaw in a Crossbred Calf: Clinical, Computer Tomographic, and Genomic Characterization.

Congenital abnormalities in animals, including abnormalities of the cleft lip and jaw and hypospadias have been reported in all domesticated species. They are a major concern for breeders due to the increased economic loss they entail. In this article, we described a congenital bilateral cheilognathoschisis (cleft lip and jaw) with campylognathia in association with penile hypospadias and preputial hypoplasia with failure of preputial fusion in a crossbred Piedmontese × Wagyu calf.

Effects of age and season on conception rate of Mediterranean Italian Dairy Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) following oestrus synchronization and fixed-time artificial insemination.

The objective of this project was to report the effects of season and age on conception rate amongst Italian Mediterranean Buffalo subjected to an Ovsynch/Resynch (O/R) reproductive management protocol. The study utilized nulliparous (heifers), primiparous buffalo cows (PBC) and multiparous buffalo cows (MBC). The primiparous and multiparous groups were subjected to the synchronization protocol throughout the entire year, but heifers were synchronized and inseminated only during the spring/summer seasons.

Repeated biopsies in evaluation of therapeutic effects in prostate carcinoma.

Background: Apoptosis is one of the major events following total androgen blockade (TAB). The aim of this study was to determine the predictive value of some histological parameters including apoptosis and gene products which influence apoptosis, based on repeated biopsies taken from the same patients.

Methods: At the time of diagnosis by needle biopsy TNM stage, serum PSA, Gleason's grade, apoptotic and mitotic index, Ki67, p53, and bcl(2) expression were investigated in 60 prostate carcinoma patients.

Pyeloureteral junction stenosis and ureteral valve causing hydronephrosis.

A young female patient underwent ureteral resection and Hynes-Anderson pyeloureteroplasty because of pyeloureteral junction stenosis and a ureteral valve (UV), which caused hydronephrosis. Despite using ultrasonography and intravenous urography the ureteral valve was observed only on exploration. UV should be considered as a possible cause of upper urinary tract obstruction; retrograde urography can be essential.
