Insomnia Associated with Tinnitus and Gender Differences.

Chronic tinnitus causes a decrease in well-being and can negatively affect sleep quality. It has further been indicated that there are clinically relevant gender differences, which may also have an impact on sleep quality. By conducting a retrospective and explorative data analysis for differences in patients with tinnitus and patients diagnosed with tinnitus and insomnia, hypothesized differences were explored in the summed test scores and on item-level of the validated psychometric instruments.

Late Pathomorphological Features of the Endocrine Pancreas in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

Introduction Islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP) amyloidosis is a pathologic alteration of the pancreas, represented by abnormal accumulation of amylin in the interstitial tissue. Amylin is a neuroendocrine hormone, co-secreted with insulin by beta cells and participating in downstream regulation of postprandial glycemia. This report aims to examine IAPP amyloidosis as a late consequence of poor control of blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who have been referred for autopsy.

Clinical Characteristics of Ulceroglandular Tularemia in Two Bulgarian Regions, 2014-2015: a Report of Five Cases.

We present here the first five human cases with tularemia from two regions in South Bulgaria in which there had been no previous report of the infection. The cases occurred over a period of 8 months (December 2014 - August 2015). They were treated at the Department of Infectious Diseases in Stara Zagora University Hospital, Bulgaria.

Optimization of Eva Green real-time mPCR for differentiating C. jejuni/coli directly from feces.

Objective: To develop and optimize a rapid molecular method for diagnosing campylobacteriosis directly from a clinical fecal sample and at the same time for determining the most common causing agents - C. jejuni/coli.

Materials And Methods: 38 clinical fecal samples from hospitalized patients with diarrheal syndrome were tested using a rapid immunochromatographic test.

Unusually High Archaeal Diversity in a Crystallizer Pond, Pomorie Salterns, Bulgaria, Revealed by Phylogenetic Analysis.

Recent studies on archaeal diversity in few salterns have revealed heterogeneity between sites and unique structures of separate places that hinder drawing of generalized conclusions. Investigations on the archaeal community composition in P18, the biggest crystallizer pond in Pomorie salterns (PS) (34% salinity), demonstrated unusually high number of presented taxa in hypersaline environment. Archaeal clones were grouped in 26 different operational taxonomic units (OTUs) assigned to 15 different genera from two orders, Halobacteriales and Haloferacales.
