Background: Proximal femur fractures are most common fractures in the elderly and associated with significant mortality and morbidity, with high economic and social impact. Perioperative pain management influence outcomes and mortality after surgery with early mobilization being possible. The goal of the study was to compare the efficacy and safety of the psoas compartment block (PCB) with spinal and general anesthesia.

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: While studying special aspects of the daily routine of students at modern educational institutions and their influence on the state of physical and mental health, the young people were observed in five modern educational establishments in Ivano-Frankivsk: Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Ivano-Frankivsk Finance Commercial Cooperative College named after S.Granat, Ivano-Frankivsk music school named after Denis Sichinskiy, Ivano-Frankivsk Vocational Motor Transport and Construction Lyceum № 15, Ivano-Frankivsk boarding lyceum for gifted young people from rural areas.

Impact of preoperative variables on the functional and radiological outcome of an uncemented femoral stem: a prospective two-year follow-up.

The demand for improved clinical outcomes in total hip arthroplasty (THA) has led to improvements in fixation, bone ingrowth and designs providing an increased range of motion.The purpose of this prospective clinical study was to evaluate the outcome of a new cementless stem (Hipstar). The variables of body mass index (BMI), gender, preoperative function and age were explored as predictors for recovery after surgery.

Pitfalls in the use of acetabular reinforcement rings in total hip revision.

Introduction: For the reconstruction of acetabular bone defects different types of acetabular reinforcement rings are being used. In clinical practice, these implants showed to some extent good long-term results. In the present work pitfalls and complications after the implantation of acetabular reinforcement rings as well as possible solutions are being discussed.

Impaired glutamate clearance as a consequence of energy failure caused by MPP(+) in astrocytic cultures.

Astrocytes are the site of bioactivation of the parkinsonism-inducing agent 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3, 6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) into its toxic 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP(+)) metabolite. The mechanism by which MPP(+) is capable of decreasing astrocytic glutamate uptake was evaluated in this study using primary cultures of astrocytes. Addition of glutamate to these cultures was followed by its efficient clearance from the extracellular space.
