Unlabelled: There are numerous scientific data about the study of the prevalence of blood group antigens in the different donor population. Several studies showed that the profile of major blood group antigens is not similar in blood donors from different local areas.

Research Objective: Our scientific goal was to study of the prevalence blood group antigens in the Georgian blood donor population.

Blood groups are inherited biological characteristics that do not change throughout life only in healthy people. Blood group antigens determine the adaptation of a human, as a biological species, to the surrounding environment. The distribution of erythrocyte blood group antigens was evaluated among 656 donors; samples were provided by the diagnostic laboratory "Medina" Ltd Health Centre of Batumi. [Effects of metabolic triad (25% polarizing solution, mildronat, preductal MR) in acute myocardial infarction].

The aim of the work was to study the effect of metabolic triad with different mechanisms of acting--high-dose Glucose-Insulin-Potassium--25% polarizing solution (25% glucose, 50 IU soluble insulin and 4% 144 ml KCL-GIK), mildronat, preductal MR on the functional condition of heart during the acute myocardial infarction. 20 patients from the main group and 20 from the control one have been under the study. Patients with diabetes and heavy forms of heart failure (killip class>2) were not included in the study.

Continent urinary diversion (Gotsadze Pouch) after pelvic exenteration for gynaecological malignancies.

The problem of urinary diversion is of major importance in patients requiring pelvic exenteration for advanced gynaecological malignancies. Eight patients underwent pelvic exenteration (4-total and 4-anterior) at the Georgian Oncologic Centre, 7 of them for recurrent cervical carcinoma after combined treatment and 1--for primary advanced cervical carcinoma. The original surgical technique for construction of detubalarized ileal reservoir with continent umbilical stoma (Gotsadze Pouch) is described.
