Initially considered untreatable in the early 20th century, extensive research over time has significantly advanced our understanding of its aetiopathogenesis. This led to successful chemotherapy treatments, which have shown superior outcomes compared to surgical interventions.

Duodromic atrioventricular reentry tachycardia: a case report of a rare adenosine insensitive supraventricular tachycardia.

Background: Accessory pathways (AP) are associated with an increased risk of atrioventricular reentry tachycardia (AVRT), presenting as a wide QRS tachycardia if the mechanism is antidromic. Rarely, AVRT may not respond to adenosine, suggesting a duodromic mechanism if the patient has multiple APs. Herein, we present a case of a male patient with multiple APs, wide QRS complex tachycardia, and resistance to adenosine.

Immigrants face unique challenges and stressors before leaving their country of origin and upon arrival to their host country, all of which may impair their sleep health. We synthesized the literature on pre-and-post migration factors predicting sleep outcomes among foreign-born Latin American immigrants to the United States. Following PRISMA guidelines, we searched three electronic databases: PubMed, PsycINFO, and Web of Science.

Bioprospecting hydroxylated chalcones in model of ischemia-reoxygenation and probing NOX4 interactions via molecular docking.

Ischemia/reperfusion injury (I/R) is a leading cause of acute kidney injury (AKI) in conditions like kidney transplants, cardiac surgeries, and nephrectomy, contributing to high global mortality and morbidity. This study aimed to analyze the protective effects of 2'-hydroxychalcones in treating I/R-induced AKI by targeting key pathological pathways. Considering strong antioxidant action along with other pharmacological roles of chalcone derivatives, six 2'-hydroxychalcones were synthesized via Claisen-Schmidt condensation and analyzed for their protective effects in an I/R induced AKI model using HK-2 cells.
