Atherosclerosis and aneurysm of the aorta are relatively common pathological conditions that remain asymptomatic for a long period of time and have life-threatening and disabling complications. DNA methylation profiling in several regions (a dilated area, a nondilated area, and an atherosclerotic plaque) of the ascending aorta was carried out in patients with aortic aneurysm. DNA methylation was analyzed by reduced representation bisulfite sequencing (RRBS).

For several vaccine-preventable infections, quantitative indicators of the humoral response have been established, which, when reached, provide a high probability of protection against infection. The presence of such a formal correlate of vaccine effectiveness is crucial, for example, in organizing preventive measures and validating newly developed vaccines.

Utilizing high-quality data sources and employing a methodologically rigorous approach, the study endeavors to enhance our understanding of how loneliness manifests and varies across different cultural and socio-economic contexts within these regions. By identifying key factors influencing loneliness, including demographic, social, and economic variables, the research seeks to contribute significantly to the existing body of knowledge on loneliness and inform targeted public health strategies and interventions tailored to the unique needs of older adults in the Baltic and Nordic countries.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAortic aneurysm (AA) is a life-threatening condition with a high prevalence and risk of severe complications. The aim of this review was to summarize the data on the role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the development of AAs of various location. Within less than a decade of studies on the role of lncRNAs in AA, using experimental and bioinformatic approaches, scientists have obtained the data confirming the involvement of these molecules in metabolic pathways and pathogenetic mechanisms critical for the aneurysm development.

A while back, we engineered an orally administered probiotic-based vaccine, L3-SARS, by integrating a gene fragment that encodes the spike protein S of the SARS-CoV-2 virus into the genome of the probiotic strain L3, inducing the expression of viral antigen on the surface of bacteria. Previous studies demonstrated the efficacy of this vaccine candidate in providing protection against the virus in Syrian hamsters.
