  • Ololygon skuki is a newly studied species found only in a specific area of the Atlantic Forest in Alagoas, Brazil, with limited prior research on its adults and larvae.
  • Current research reveals that O. skuki is closely related to other species in the O. argyreornata group and includes new findings such as its unique nuptial pad and vocalization characteristics.

Non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) presents management challenges due to its high recurrence rate and a complex tumor microenvironment (TME). This study investigated the effects of OncoTherad® (MRB-CFI1) nanoimmunotherapy on the TME of BCG-unresponsive NMIBC, focusing on alterations in monoamine oxidases (MAO-A and MAO-B) and immune markers: CD163, FOXP3, CD8, and CX3CR1. A comparative analysis of immunoreactivities was made before and after OncoTherad® treatment and an immune score (IS) was established to evaluate the correlation between immunological changes and clinical outcomes.

Understanding the mechanisms involved in tolerance to inhibitors is the first step in developing robust yeasts for industrial second-generation ethanol (E2G) production. Here, we used ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) and MetaboAnalyst 4.0 for analysis of MS data to examine the changes in the metabolic profile of the yeast Spathaspora passalidarum during early fermentation of hemicellulosic hydrolysates containing high or low levels of inhibitors (referred to as control hydrolysate or CH and strategy hydrolysate or SH, respectively).

Pristimantis is the most diverse Neotropical genus of terrestrial vertebrates and is distributed from Central America to Argentina. The last few years have seen the description of several new species of the genus, suggesting that its diversity is still underestimated. After decades of uncertainties about the taxonomic status of populations of Pristimantis from the Brejos de Altitude of the state of Cear, Northeast Brazil, we finally found morphological, acoustic and molecular evidence confirming their distinctiveness from other Atlantic Forest species.
