Aims: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a potential complication of foot and ankle surgery. There is a lack of agreement on contributing risk factors and chemical prophylaxis requirements. The primary outcome of this study was to analyze the 90-day incidence of symptomatic VTE and VTE-related mortality in patients undergoing foot and ankle surgery and Achilles tendon (TA) rupture.

One promising frontier within the field of Medical Botany is the study of the bioactivity of plant metabolites on human health. Although plant metabolites are metabolic byproducts that commonly regulate ecological interactions and biochemical processes in plant species, such metabolites also elicit profound effects on the cellular processes of human and other mammalian cells. In this regard, due to their potential as therapeutic agents for a variety of human diseases and induction of toxic cellular responses, further research advances are direly needed to fully understand the molecular mechanisms induced by these agents.

Several radiological indices such as Fowler-Philip angle, Ruch pitch, Chauveaux-Liet angle, calcaneal pitch angle, parallel pitch lines, and X-Y ratio have been described to measure this deformity. However, most of these lack specificity and have variable intra- and inter-observer reliability.

The purpose of the study is to provide an account on how a symptomatic mass of the plantar aspect of the foot warranted a referral to a sarcoma center, highlighting the importance of having access to diagnostic imaging and a pathway to refer suspected cases to specialist centers. A single patient with a symptomatic soft tissue tumor of the plantar foot was referred from our service to the regional sarcoma center who considered to be benign, and therefore, open surgical resection was performed by our team.
