This study provides a comprehensive investigation of antimicrobial additives (ZnO/AgNPs and SiO/AgNPs) on the properties of biodegradable ternary blends composed of poly(hydroxybutyrate) (PHB), poly(lactic acid) (PLA), and polycaprolactone (PCL) by examining the morphology, thermal stability, crystallinity index, and cell viability of these blends. Overall, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis revealed that AgNPs and SiO exhibited comparable sizes, whereas ZnO was significantly larger, which influences their release profiles and interactions with the blends. The addition of antimicrobials influences the rheology of the blends, acting as compatibilizers by reducing the intermolecular forces between biopolymers.

Peripheral nerve injuries, predominantly affecting individuals aged 20-40, pose significant healthcare challenges, with current surgical methods often failing to achieve complete functional recovery. This study focuses on the development of 3D printed hydrogel nerve conduits using modified hyaluronic acid (HA) for potentially enhancing peripheral nerve regeneration. Hyaluronic acid was chemically altered with cysteamine HCl and methacrylic anhydride to create thiolated HA (HA-SH) and methacrylated HA (HA-MA), achieving a modification degree of approximately 20 %.

This study, conducted in Debrecen, Hungary, aimed to analyse atmospheric particulate matter (APM or PM) through radiocarbon and PIXE analyses during the winter smog (23-25 January) and spring (15-18 May) seasons. The information presented in this pilot study aims to provide insight into the importance of utilising detailed characteristics of the mass size distributions of fossil carbon (f) and contemporary carbon (f) content. Additionally, it seeks to compare these characteristics with the size distributions of various elements to enable even more accurate PM source identification.

Shellfish species, including oysters, clams, and mussels, are extensively cultured in coastal waters. Its location is determined by factors such as nutrient availability, water temperature, tidal cycle, and the presence of contaminants such as Escherichia coli and enteric viruses.
