In recent decades, the common and the tropical bed bugs have experienced a resurgence in many parts of the world. The evolution of insecticide resistance in bed bug populations is considered a significant factor contributing to this resurgence. We analyzed samples of Cimex lectularius L.

The mosquito fat body is the principal source of yolk protein precursors (YPP) during mosquito egg development in female . To better understand the metabolic and signaling pathways involved in mosquito reproduction, we investigated changes in the mosquito fat body phosphoproteome at multiple time points after a blood meal. Using LC/MS, we identified 3570 phosphorylated proteins containing 14,551 individual phosphorylation sites.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of vascular ultrasound (US) in detecting giant cell arteritis (GCA) before and after starting glucocorticoid (GC) treatment in patients new to the condition.
  • A total of 48 treatment-naïve patients underwent various imaging tests, and US sensitivity showed high initial rates, followed by a decrease in sensitivity at days 3 and 10 after GC treatment, particularly for temporal artery (TA) assessments.
  • Findings suggest a rapid reduction in vasculitic signs after 3 days of treatment, emphasizing the need for early US evaluation within this timeframe to ensure accurate GCA diagnosis.

Semiconductor spin qubits represent a promising platform for future large-scale quantum computers owing to their excellent qubit performance, as well as the ability to leverage the mature semiconductor manufacturing industry for scaling up. Individual qubit control, however, commonly relies on spectral selectivity, where individual microwave signals of distinct frequencies are used to address each qubit. As quantum processors scale up, this approach will suffer from frequency crowding, control signal interference and unfeasible bandwidth requirements.

The EU Habitat Directive adopted in 1992, requires member states of the European Union to protect species and habitats considered to be of 'Community Interest' and listed in annexes to the directive. The appropriate environmental assessment of "plans and projects" is an important part of the conservation process. Despite several amendments and guidelines supporting the implementation of the Habitat Directive, science based operational procedures, indicators, and impact criteria for assessing potential negative impacts on marine Natura 2000 areas are still lacking.
