Article Synopsis
  • - A 20-year-old man with drug-resistant epilepsy developed multiple intracerebral hemorrhages after receiving stereo-EEG electrodes and experiencing a lumbar spinal tap, with a history of heavy use of nicotine pouches.
  • - Genetic testing revealed a mutation in the COL4A2 gene, which is linked to collagen production and has previously been associated with hemorrhage risks, raising concerns about its role in the patient's complication.
  • - The study suggests that the combination of the COL4A2 mutation and high nicotine use could significantly increase the likelihood of bleeding during neurosurgical procedures, calling for more research into this connection.

Article Synopsis
  • - Arrestins are key proteins that help regulate G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) by promoting their desensitization after they are activated and phosphorylated, while also enabling distinct signaling pathways independent of G proteins.
  • - Non-visual GPCRs feature diverse receptors controlled by just two human non-visual arrestin isoforms, and recent research has examined GPCR-arrestin complexes using various structural and biochemical techniques.
  • - Current studies reveal that the stability and activity of GPCR-arrestin complexes are influenced by the specific patterns and density of phosphorylation sites, but more high-resolution structural data is needed to fully understand these interactions for developing targeted therapeutics.

Background: Pancreatic resection is still associated with high morbidity rates and delayed postpancreatectomy hemorrhage (PPH) is the most feared complication as it may lead to hemorrhagic shock or serious septic complications. Today, endovascular approach represent safe and efficient method for minimally invasive management of extraluminal PPH.

Case Summary: We describe four patients whose postoperative recovery after pancreatic resection was complicated by postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) and visceral artery hemorrhage.

Introduction: Motor imagery (MI) involves recreating a movement mentally without physically performing the movement itself. MI has a positive impact on motor performance, motor learning and neural plasticity. We analysed the connection between motor imagination and altered movement execution in individuals with dystonia, a complex sensorimotor disorder.

Unlabelled: A 73-year-old male with a history of hypertension, congenital kidney aplasia, status post-myocardial infarction, stroke, and chronic renal insufficiency was admitted to our institute due to coronary artery bypass grafting. Preoperative echocardiogram revealed a 15 × 7 mm mass arising near the posterior mitral annulus. Following the coronary artery bypass grafting, the left atrial cavity was explored using a 30° endoscope.
